Mrs. Sleiman and Ms. Alsaiyad are looking to lease new SUV’s. They’ve narrowed
down their options to the 2018 Ford Escape SEL, Edge SEL, and Explorer XLT. Mrs.
Sleiman’s husband works for Ford, so she gets a discount; Ms. Alsaiyad does not.
Your job as a group is to find both Mrs. Sleiman and Ms. Alsaiyad the best deal for
the price and the mpg.
You must calculate:
1) Miles per Gallon
2) The final total of what Ms. Alsaiyad pay and what Mrs. Sleiman will pay
a. What percentage of the final total needs to be paid for upfront
b. What percentage of the final total are their monthly payments
3) The discount Mrs. Sleiman receives
a. Make a ratio to compare how much Ms. Alsaiyad spends to Mrs.
Sleiman (i.e. for every X amount dollars Ms. Alsaiyad pays, Mrs.
Sleiman pays Y amount dollars)
4) Compare Vehicle sizes using proportions
5) Finally, you must defend which choice is the best option, using the above
specifications as your C.E.R. (Claim, Evidence, Reasoning)

Choice 1: Escape SEL

416.05 miles on one tank of gas. The Escape SEL measures at 178.1 inches long,

Ms. Alsaiyad can pay $224 a month with $1435 due at signing. Mrs. Sleiman,
