Important Storytelling Concepts

1. Time = Importance. Generally something’s importance is directly related to how

much time is spent on it.

2. Good storytellers give us 2+2; they don’t give us 4.

3. Nearly all great characters have a “spine” or a central trait/desire that guides all
of their decision-making. This trait is rarely ever said directly; instead we must
infer it.

4. Well designed characters evolve just like we do.
