upper J-amplexicaul, lower petioled. Heads many, J in. diam., corymbose,
dull y e l l o w ; peduncle stout, ebracteate ; iuvol. bracts coriaceous, appressed,
outer acute shorter, inner obtuse, edges narrow scarious. Outer fl. exceed­
ing the involucre, rarely 0 , o b l i q u e l y truncate. Fruit o b o v o i d , 5-rib-
