Dear Odyssey Junior Class Families,

The Greece Central School District Board of Education last night voted to rescind their approval of senior
trips to Disney World. The decision was based on difficulties with student supervision in the parks and
the district’s commitment to equity and access. At around $1,000 a person, an increasing number of
families cannot justify the expense for the limited educational benefit.

As a result, we regret to inform you that Odyssey’s Class of 2019 trip to Disney World is cancelled. In the
coming weeks, school leaders will work with members of the Class of 2019 to plan alternative senior
activities. Student input will be solicited and we expect the activities selected to be more inclusive.

As you are aware, students had already begun fund-raising for the trip and deposits/payments were
collected. Within the next two weeks, we will send you a statement indicating how much money you have
contributed and how much your child earned through fund-raising. Those contributions will automatically
be reallocated to cover the cost of other senior year activities or offset the cost of prom tickets or
yearbook purchases.

Money earned through fund-raising is non-refundable, but if you would like your personal contributions
refunded, please email Lisa.Bailey@greececsd.org. In your email, please include your child’s name, your
desire for a refund, the person to whom the refund check should be made out, your home address, and any
special instructions for the disbursement of funds (for example, if multiple family members contributed
and separate checks are requested). Payments made by credit card cannot be returned to the card and will
instead be included in the refund check. Fees associated with online payments cannot be refunded.

We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any disappointment or inconvenience the timing of
this decision may cause. We look forward to working with students to start a new senior tradition that we
hope to be memorable, more inclusive, and less of a financial burden on our families.
