AND POLINEMA COLLEGE STUDENTS

ABSTRACT

Environmental worldview is the amount of information individuals has concerning


environmental issues and their ability to understand and evaluate its impact on society and the
environment. While environmental literacy is the desired outcome of environmental
education which strives to provide learners with sound scientific information, skills for
critical thinking, creative and strategic problem solving, and decision making. This study
aims to find out how the correlation between environmental worldview and environmental
literacy between state university of Malang students and POLINEMA students. The
populations are the college students in UM (Faculty of Technic) and POLINEMA (Faculty of
Chemical Engineering Industry), and its samples are the college students in UM (Faculty of
Technic) and POLINEMA (Faculty of Chemical Engineering Industry) numbering fifth teen
(15) for each. We are interviewing our entire sample and use a questionnaire method to
collect the data. The result showed that there is a correlation between the environmental
worldview and environmental literacy with the contribution factor are 53,33%,while the rest
(46,67%) are donated from other factor. Also showed that UM students have greater
endorsement of an environmental worldview and environmental literacy than POLINEMA
students.

INTRODUCTION

Environmental worldview is the amount of information individuals have concerning


environmental issues and their ability to understand and evaluate its impact on society and the
environment (Oregon,2014).Knowledge environments are social practices, technological and
physical arrangements intended to facilitate collaborative knowledge building, decision
making, inference, or discovery, depending on the esthimological premises and goals.

While environmental literacy is the desired outcome of environmental education


which strives to provide learners with sound scientific information, skills for critical thinking,
creative and strategic problem solving, and decision making (Elsevier, 2017). The test of
environmental literacy is the capacity of an individual to act successfully in daily life on a
broad understanding of how people and societies relate to each other and to natural systems,
and how they might do so sustainably.
The purpose of this research is to find out if there are correlation the environmental
worldview and environmental literacy between State University of Malang and POLINEMA
students.

METHOD

This research is correlational study. This research located at Faculty of Technic in UM


and Faculty of Chemical Engineering Industry in POLINEMA and the time is November
17th . The population the college students in UM (Faculty of Technic) and POLINEMA
(Faculty of Chemical Engineering Industry), and its samples are the college students in UM
(Faculty of Technic) and POLINEMA (Faculty of Chemical Engineering Industry) numbering
fifth teen (15) for each.

The instruments that we used to collect the data are questionnaire and interviewing all
of our samples. We’re also using correlation and regression method and r-table.

RESULT AND DISCUSSION

In this research, we’re going to find out how the correlation between environmental
worldview and environmental literacy.

Discussion

CONCLUSION

Based on our research, we’re know that there is a correlation between the
environmental worldview and environmental literacy with the contribution factor are
53,33%,while the rest (46,67%) are donated from other factor. We’re also know that UM
students have greater endorsement of an environmental worldview and environmental literacy
than POLINEMA students.
