During the second half of the 15th century, European discovery resulted in new and dense relationships with territories and populations all over the world. Voyage is the landmark orientation registered by many sailors exploring islands and spheres. It is surrounded by their curiosity which sometimes meets with an accidental end. Naval and cost guard formations have jointly extended their courageous co-operation to fulfil the dreams of modem age sailors and cruise aspirants. By the end of the 15th century, European explorers had considerable experience of long- distance ocean voyaging. In particular, they had learned that the greatest danger, apart from storms and hurricanes, was lack of food and water. if a ship was marooned, supplies could run low, quickly. European navigators had also learned that there were other problems besides hunger and thirst. They noticed that the ship’s crew often became very sick, even though they were eating and drinking regularly. It took them time to discover that the crew was suffering from a disease called Scurvy, caused by a lack of vitamin C. As a result, their _~ gums became sore, their teeth fell out and many eventually died. Scurvy affected crews throughout the Age of Discovery and beyond. Not until the 18th century did the British navy discover an effective way of preventing scurvy ~ to issue a daily dose of lime juice, which is rich in vitamin C.
