Sunday, February 18, 2018 First Sunday in Lent

A Peek At The Sunday Sermon

The Positives of a Lacking Faith
Acts 19:1-7

This is an interesting episode in the ministry of St. Paul. The story takes
place some years after Our Lord’s earthly ministry. Paul returns to
Ephesus and, just by chance, meets with twelve believers who are in
need of “something more” in their religious experience.

Like the twelve mentioned in Acts 7:1-7, people today can be religious
disciples, and still lack in proper knowledge of doctrinal truth and miss
out on available blessings.

Are you seeking more of God - or - are you content with the status-quo?
Don’t settle for less – choose more and obey the Lord! There is a FULL-
filling life in Christ Jesus. For more details …
See you on February 18th at 10:00 AM.
On Ash Wednesday, February 14, 2018, the liturgical colors
are changed to violet – symbolizing pain, suffering, and
therefore mourning and penitence. It is the color for the
Season of Lent.

Our suggested Scripture reading for February 18, 2018, from the 2018 UCC
Church Calendar:
Psalm 25:1-10 (NLT)
A Psalm of David
O LORD, I give my life to you. 2 I trust in you, my God! Do not let me be
disgraced, or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat. 3 No one who trusts in you
will ever be disgraced, but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others.
4 Show me the right path, O LORD; point out
the road for me to follow. 5 Lead me by your
truth and teach me, for you are the God
who saves me. All day long I put my hope
in you. 6 Remember, O LORD, your com-
passion and unfailing love, which you have
shown from long ages past. 7 Do not
remember the rebellious sins of my
youth. Remember me in the light of your
unfailing love,
unfailing love, for you are merciful, for

is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray. 9 He leads the
humble in doing right, teaching them his way. 10 The LORD leads with unfailing
love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey his demands.
