Dear Mr. A.K.M. Rabiul Islam,

In response to your application and subsequent interview on 5 June 1997 for the position of
Program Officer, the Executive Committee of Nari Unnayan Shakti (NUS) is pleased to appoint
you under the following terms and conditions:

1. You will be paid a emoluments as follows:


Basic pay Tk. 10,000
House rent Tk. 8,000
Medical allowance Tk. 1,000
Conveyance allowance Tk. 1,000
Total Tk. 20,000

2. You shall be entitled to other admissible allowances/benefits including festival bonus after
the probation period on such terms as may think appropriate by Nari Unnayan Shakti
(NUS) from time to time.

3. Income tax shall have to be borne by you (if any)

4. You will be on probation for a period of 6 (six) months and on receipt of satisfactory
reports on your successful completion of probationary period, your service will be
confirmed. During probation period your service may be terminated from either side by
giving 7 (seven) days prior notice;

5. Your office time will be 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Saturday through Thursday; however, you
may be required to work beyond office hours.

6. Your service will be regulated as per service rules and regulation of the Nari Unnayan
Shakti (NUS)

7. A satisfactory police verification report within 3 months of joining is necessary;

8. You will have to produce all the academic certificate (s) in original at the time of joining
which will be returned to you after verification;
9. During probation period, you will be entitled for 15 (Fifteen) days sick leave and 10 (Ten)
days casual leave each year.

10. This offer of appointment will remain valid up to 22nd June 1997.

If the above terms and conditions are acceptable, you are requested to submit joining report
along with necessary documents mentioned above immediately.

Mr. A.K.M. Rabiul Islam had joined Nari Unnayan Shakti (NUS) as a Program officer. Due to
his outstanding performance and dedication to the organization, he was promoted to Program
coordinator, Assistant Program Manager and Program Manager.

His major responsibilities are:

Planning, Implementing, supervision and monitoring overall project activities.


Conduct training and follow-up to the project staffs and teachers of Non Formal Schools
and Pre-Schools on child rights based quality education, child development theory and
active participation of children in the class, use of teaching aids to develop cognitive
skills of children, lesion planning, group work, classroom management and community
management for capacity building.
Conduct monthly and quarterly meeting with Project Facilitating Committee (PFC),
parents and formal school’s authorities for ensuring community participation in the
program.
Organize seminar, rallies, community based drama, distribution of awareness raising
materials and organize Focus Group Discussion (FGD) advocacy and awareness rising.
Organize vocational training for adult children and arrange job placement.
Prepare monthly, quarterly Technical and Financial reports on project activities for
submitting to Donor and concern Government Authorities;
Prepare Logical Framework Approach (LFA), quarterly, half yearly and yearly work plan
and yearly budget of the project;
Motivate factory owners for signing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
Maintain liaison with NGO Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Social Welfare and respective
GOs and NGOs.
Conduct yearly workshop with different stakeholders;
