PROCEDURE
Experiment 3:
1. Excitation voltage PS4 and armature voltage PS3 was set as 0.
2. Power supply was switched on and PS4 was adjusted to nominal voltage.
3. Motor was started gradually increasing the armature voltage PS3.
4. Currents and voltages was measured when motor at nominal speed and was tabulate in
the table of result.
5. Armature voltage was decreased step by step and excitation voltage was adjusted to
keep the motor at nominal speed.
6. Suitable stepping values was chosed and above procedure at each step was repeated.
7. Experiment was done when armature voltage is so low and motor was slow down.
8. Graph was plotted.

Experiment 4:

1. Excitation voltage PS4 and armature voltage PS3 is set as 0.


2. Starting rheostat A4610 was se t at high resistance. The function of rheostat was to
limits the starting current when motor is u to speed its resistance was gradually reduced
to 0.
3. Excitation resistance A4630 was set at low resistance. Excitation rheostat A4630 was
put in series with the excitation winding was adjusted to control the speed of the motor.
4. Power supply as switched on and PS3 was adjusted to nominal voltage.
5. Motor was start gradually increasing the armature voltage PS3 to 220V.
6. Current and voltage was measured when the motor at nominal speed. Starting rheostat
A4610 was decreasing step by step and armature current and speed was measured and
the result was tabulate in table of result. Suitable stepping values was choosed and
above procedure as repeated.
7. Excitation rheostat A4630 was increases step by step and field current and speed was
measured and was tabulate in the table of result. Suitable stepping values was choosed.
Above procedure was repeated.
8. Starting rheostat A4610 was reduced back until reach speed 2900 rpm and the result as
tabulated. Voltage applied was reduced in steps of 10V to 0 with variable DC voltage
control PS3.
9. Voltage and speed was measured and was tabulated. When armature voltage so low.
