Universal Design for Learning (UDL): The level 2 UDL guideline is addressed through this lesson by
representing the information in the form of a timeline. This could be beneficial to students who are more of
visual learners. It will also be helpful so that the students will have access to this at home as well so that they
can review it. The information will also be presented in the class in a variety of different ways to reach every
student and learning style.

Lesson idea implementation: The teacher will first introduce the topic of the Civil War by going over what
the students already know. This could be done through small group discussions and the teacher will walk
around observing the different discussions. The teacher will then present the Civil War timeline to the class
and go over it with them. The class will review specific aspects of the timeline when needed. The teacher will
then have the students make their own timeline on the Civil War. This timeline will be more specific, for
example focusing on one specific battle instead of the War as a whole.
The learning will be assessed as the teacher goes over the timelines that the students create. The
students will present their timelines to the class and the teacher will discuss them with the students. The
product will be used so that the other students in the class can also look to see what their peers created. The
lesson will be concluded by going over all of the timelines and discussing what stood out to the students.

Reflective Practice: I believe that this lesson could help students as not only will they learn through creating
their own lesson plan but they will also be able to see/review their peers as well. This activity could introduce
the Civil War and could be expanded upon in the following days. Other beyond the basic productivity tools
could be used like the Discovery Education Board or Bubl.us.
