Grade Level: 9 Unit: Quadrilaterals Date: January 8 – 12 2018

Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of the key concepts of Quadrilaterals
Performance Standard: The learner is able to create, investigate, analyze, and solve mathematical problems involving
Quadrilaterals through appropriate and accurate representations.

At the end of the lesson the learner

 Identifies quadrilaterals that are parallelograms  M9GE- IIIa-1
 Determines that conditions that make a quadrilateral a parallelogram.  M9GE-IIIa-2

Learning Target/s:
a. describe the different kinds of quadrilateral
b. identify quadrilaterals that are parallelograms.
c. determine the conditions that make a quadrilateral a parallelogram.
d. use properties to find measures of angles, sides and other quantities involving parallelograms.

I. Explore (Day 1)
Activity:
Let the student draw on 1 whole sheet of paper, a house of their own.

1. What is the most common shape you can see every day?
2. What are the words and terms you as a student can remember about geometry?
3. If you will be able to create or design your own home in the future, what structural shapes you like it to have.
4. Why did you create your house like that?
5. Describe what a happy home for you?

II. Firm up/Discussion (Day 2)

A quadrilateral is a closed plane plane figure consisting of four line segments or

sides. These sides may or may not be congruent and parallel.

TEST YOURSELF
I. In the quadrilateral below, name the following:

1. 4 pairs of consecutive vertices

2. 2 pairs of opposite vertices
3. 4 pairs of consecutive sides
4. 2 pairs of opposite sides
5. 4 pairs of consecutive angles
6. 2 pairs of opposite angles
7. A pair of diagonals.
