NO LUNGING ALLOWED ON SHOWGROUND
SEWPCA – RULES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
1. Competitors must ensure that they hold adequate third party insurance cover in respect of any accident
caused by themselves, their family, or helpers, their vehicles or animals when on the showground.
2. THE JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL.
3. The organisers, owners of the showground, or any of the committee, officers, servants or assistants
shall not in any way be responsible or accountable for any loss, injury or damage that may happen (for
any cause or circumstances whatsoever) to exhibitors or their assistants or any member of the public, to
any animal or property or to any vehicle brought on to the showground, or any premises used in
conjunction with or arising out of or attainable to the show. It shall be a condition of entry that each
entrant or spectator shall indemnify the show organisers against such matters aforesaid.
4. Everyone in attendance at this event must abide by the instructions given by officials.
5. WPCS rules, NPS rules and Ponies (UK) rules will apply to applicable classes. Please ensure you are
familiar with these rules before signing the entry form.
6. All ridden ponies must be four years old and over and registered in their respective stud books,
including Part Breds. Competitors are reminded that it is a legal requirement for passports to be
carried when transporting ponies.
7. All objections must be lodged with the Secretary within 30 minutes of the disputed event and
confirmed in writing, with a deposit of £20. This will be returned should the objection be upheld.
Please note; no Judge may be approached directly regarding an objection.
8. Entry fees will only be refunded at the discretion of the committee. Should the show be cancelled for
whatever reason, SEWPCA reserve the right to retain 25% of the entry fees to cover administration
cost.
9. No clearing out of horse boxes/ trailers, etc. is allowed on the showground; this includes any litter.
10. Anyone displaying aggressive, rude or threatening behaviour towards judges, show officials or other
competitors will immediately be ejected from the showground, banned from future SEWPCA shows
and if a SEWPCA member, their membership will be cancelled forthwith with no right of appeal and
without refund of any entries or subscriptions.
11. The Committee reserves the right to refuse an entry without giving reason, to change judges or to
amalgamate/split classes if entries warrant.
12. All entries must be fully registered in their section of the Welsh Stud Book, with the exception of foals
which must however be eligible for registration. All foals must be at least 3 weeks old. (Applies to
shows with inhand classes).
13. All ponies and cobs must comply with the WPCS/ NPS height limits.
14. All colts and stallions must comply with the WPCS/ NPS rules. This includes ridden stallions. All
stallions must wear a stallion disc.
15. An exhibitor may not enter a pony in any class which is to be judged by a person who has bred, sold,
leased, produced or has had any financial gain from that animal.
16. All exhibits will enter and leave the ring at a walk. All dogs must be kept on leads.
17. Correctly secured Skull Caps/Riding Hats that meet one of the following current Safety
Standards/specifications MUST be worn by all Riders of all ages. All PAS 015; VG1;
(BS)EN1384 2017 , ASTM F1163 04a onwards; SNELL E2001; SNELL E2016 AS/NZS 3838
2003 onwards.
18. No top hats allowed, and suitable footwear must be worn. We advise you to wear body protectors.
19. No spurs allowed except in dressage classes. No whips or canes to exceed 75cms (30 inches).
20. No plaiting in any class (except for small plait behind the ear), with the exception of the Part-Bred
ponies where plaiting is optional.
21. PLEASE NOTE; Trophies will only be awarded to competitors who are members of SEWPCA .
22. NO LUNGING ALLOWED ON SHOWGROUND
23. Only licensed DVLA drivers are allowed to drive motorised vehicles on the showground.
24. No pony under the age of 4 yrs old is allowed to be shown in the ring by exhibitors under the age of 11
years old.

I.E. £15.00 PER CLASS SEWPCA MEMBERS, £20.00 FOR NON MEMBERS,
CASH ONLY. + your first aid due… If this is not paid, you will not be covered in the
event of an accident.
NPS Winter Championship Qualifying Rounds & Some of the Summer ones…
This show is affiliated to the National Pony Society and the NPS affiliated classes will be run under NPS
rules. Classes are open to Members and Non-Members of the NPS, but Non-Members will need to become
members to enter the finals at the NPS Spring Festival on April 8 th 2018.The NPS General Rules for Showing
apply (see NPS website for details). In each class the three highest placed ponies, not already qualified, within
the first six places, will qualify. Winnings in the 2017/2018 Novice and Pure Novice Winter Championships
will not debar ponies from the NPS 2018 Mountain and Moorland Novice Ridden competitions.
This show is a qualifier for the National Welsh Championship 2018 show to be held at the Three Counties
Showground, Malvern on Sunday 5th August, 2018. Please contact the Secretary, Mrs Lorraine Partridge,

eligible to compete will have a qualification for the highest placed gelding to go forward to The Sarum
Investment Championship. Two highest placed A,B, C and D also LR and FR all would qualify for the
respective Brynseion Finals & Qualification for The National Ridden Part-bred Championship
This show is affiliated to Equifest taking place at the East of England Showground on 9 th – 13th August 2018. The
two highest placed exhibits not already qualified in each affiliated class will qualify.
TSR Showing Finals - This show is a qualifier for the 2018 TSR Showing Finals. Qualify
and enter ANY of the Finals Central, East Anglia, North West, North East, South East, South,
Wales & South West or Scottish. You Do Not have to be a TSR member to qualify or enter a
final. The Rider/Handler qualifies and can enter any horse/pony in any number of
Finals! TSR Riders Finals - 1st & 2nd riders qualify and will receive a qualification card in
the ring. TSR In Hand Finals - The two highest placed Handlers with a TSR In Hand Card
will qualify in any In Hand class. Handlers MUST have their cards signed in the ring by the
judge/steward, cards are available FREE from the TSR website. Full details

This show is affiliated to Ponies Association (UK). The 1 st, 2nd and 3rd placed exhibits will qualify to take part in the
2018 Annual National Championship at the P(UK) Winter Classic on 23 rd – 25th March 2018 at Bury Farm EC, Bucks.

CLASS 15 NPS/Marion Williams Memorial M&M NOVICE LEADING REIN WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP
This Competition is open to mares and geldings four years old or over registered in the main body of their
respective Mountain and Moorland Stud Book. Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest and Welsh Section A
& B. Not exceeding 122cms. Pony not to have won a first prize in any Leading Rein class. To be shown in a
snaffle bit, the leading rein must be attached to the noseband only. The reins must go directly from the bit to
the rider’s hands. (Riders must not have attained their 9th birthday by 1st January in the current year).

CLASS 16 NPS/ Area 25 M&M NOVICE FIRST RIDDEN WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP
This Competition is open to mares and geldings four years old or over, registered in the main body of their
respective Mountain and Moorland Stud Book. Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest and Welsh Section A
& B. Not exceeding 128cms. Pony not to have won a first prize in any First Ridden class. Ponies must not be
cantered except in their individual show. (Riders must not have attained their 12th birthday by 1st January in
the current year).

CLASS 17 NPS M&M LEADING REIN WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP This Competition is open to mares and
geldings four years old or over, registered in the main body of their respective Mountain and Moorland Stud
Book. Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest and Welsh Section A & B. Not exceeding 122cms. To be led by
an attendant and shown in a snaffle bit, the leading rein to be attached to the noseband only. The reins must
go directly from the bit to the rider’s hands. (Riders must not have attained their 9th birthday by 1st January
in the current year). Qualifier for the National Welsh Brynseion Championship.

CLASS 18 NPS M&M FIRST RIDDEN WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP.


This Competition is open to mares and geldings four years old or over, registered in the main body of their
respective Mountain and Moorland Stud Book. Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest and Welsh Section A
& B. Not exceeding 128cms. (Riders must not have attained their 12th birthday by 1st January in the current
year).Qualifier for the National Welsh Brynseion Championship.

Class 18 a MINI CHAMPIONSHIP. 1ST and 2nd prize winners from Classes 15 – 18 will be required to take part
in this championship. SEWPCA SPRING SHOW TROPHY

CLASS 19 NPS/RYEHOUSE NATIVE SHOW TEAM M & M Junior M & M Ridden – Dartmoo
Exmoor Shetland /Welsh Section A and Welsh Section B .Open to Mares or Geldings. Ponies to be four years
old and over. Riders must not have attained their 14th birthday before the 1st January
in the current year. NPS Summer Qualifier run under Summer Rules. P(UK) Dalkeith Young Riders Qualifier.
CLASS 20 NPS/. RYEHOUSE NATIVE SHOW TEAM, M & M Junior M & M Ridden – Dale, Fell,
Highland, New Forest, Connemara ,Welsh Section C and Welsh Section D Open to Mares or Geldings. Ponies
to be four years old and over. Riders must not have attained their 18 th birthday before the 1st January in the current
year. NPS Summer Qualifier run under Summer Rules. P(UK) Dalkeith Young Riders Qualifier.

CLASS 21 PART BRED RIDDEN CLASS Exhibits to be registered in the Part Bred section of their breed
Society. Open to stallions, mares and geldings, 4 years old and over, any height. Rider any age. Qualifier for
the NEW NPS Part Bred Ridden Championship and the National Welsh Ridden Part Bred finals. P(UK)
Domino Part Bred Ridden Qualifier.

CLASS 22 NPS M&M CONFINED NOVICE RIDDEN WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP – Small Breeds.
This Competition is open to stallions, mares and geldings four years old or over which
must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Book. Pony not to have
won a first prize of £10 or more before the 1st October in the current year, in any open Ridden M&M Class.
Rider any age (except stallions – see NPS Rules) for Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh A & B ponies. P(UK)
Confined Novice Kingsford Qualifier.

CLASS 23 NPS M&M CONFINED NOVICE RIDDEN WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP – Large Breeds.
This Competition is open to stallions, mares and geldings four years old or over which must be registered in
the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Book. Pony not to have won a first prize of £10
or more before the 1st October in the current year. in any open Ridden M&M Class. Rider any age (except
stallions – see NPS Rules) for Connemara, Dales, Fell, Highland, New Forest, Welsh C & D ponies. . P(UK)

CLASS 24 NPS M&M OPEN RIDDEN WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP – Small Breeds. .
This Competition is open to stallions, mares and geldings four years old or over which must be registered in
the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Book. Rider any age (except stallions – see NPS
Rules). For Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh A & B ponies. Qualifier for the Brynseion National Welsh
Finals. Top two Welsh Section A’s and B’s will qualify. This class has been very kindly sponsored by

CLASS 25 NPS M&M OPEN RIDDEN WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP – Large Breeds.


This Competition is open to stallions, mares and geldings four years old or over which must be registered in
the main body of their Respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Book. Rider any age (except stallions – see
NPS Rules) for Connemara, Dales, Fell, Highland, New Forest, Welsh C & D ponies. Qualifier for the
Brynseion National Welsh Finals. Top two Welsh Section C’s and D’s will qualify

Class 25a RIDDEN CHAMPIONSHIP. 1st and 2nd prize winners from classes 19 – 25 COED COCH
PREFECT TROPHY.

or over. Pony not to have qualified as of the 1st Jan in the current year for RIHS or HOYS. Pony not to have
been placed first prize of £10 o more in any Affiliated Ridden Show Pony/Show Hunter Pony Class (excluding
Leading Rein or First Ridden). All ponies in this class must be shown in a snaffle bit. Riders to be suitable size
for pony. Riders must be 12 years old or over riding stallions not exceeding 128cm and 14 years or over
when riding stallions exceeding 128cm

CLASS 39 NPS / HIRSTMUND STUD M&M PURE NOVICE RIDDEN WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP – Small
Breeds. This Competition is open to stallions, mares and geldings four years old or over which must be
registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Book. Pony not to have been
placed first before the 1st October in the current year in any Ridden Mountain & Moorland Class (excluding
Lead Rein or First Ridden). All ponies in this class must be shown in a snaffle bit. Rider any age (except
stallions – see NPS Rules). Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh A & B

CLASS 40 NPS / HIRSTMUND STUD M&M PURE NOVICE RIDDEN WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP –
Large Breeds This Competition is open to stallions, mares and geldings four years old or over which must
be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Book. Pony not to have been
placed first before the 1st October in the current year in any Ridden Mountain & Moorland Class (excluding
Lead Rein or First Ridden). All ponies in this class must be shown in a snaffle bit. Rider any age (except
stallions – see NPS Rules). Connemara, Dales, Fell, Highland, New Forest, Welsh C & D.

CLASS 41 AMATEUR RIDERS RIDDEN M&M class


Stallion, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over registered in the Pure Breed Society Stud Books of Connemara,
Dales, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Fells, Highland, New Forest, Shetland and Welsh Sections A, B, C & D Rider any age.
P(UK) Amateur Riders Qualifier. This class has been very kindly sponsored by Vicky Eyres.

CLASS 42 NPS/HANOVER M & M and Plaited Amateur Ridden Class. To be run underNPS rules. This
class will be split into two sections if entries warrant. a) not exceeding 138 cms b) 138cms- 153 cms OPEN TO
ALL BREEDS. This class has been very kindly sponsored by The Training Effect.

CLASS 43 NPS Senior Plus M&M and Plaited Ridden National Championship. To be run under
NPS rules Ponies to be 15 years and over. This class will be split into two sections if entries warrant. a) not
exceeding 138 cms b)138cms- 153 cms OPEN TO ALL BREEDS

CLASS 44 NPS/KELLYTHORPES STUD Open Ridden Show Pony/Show Hunter Pony Gold
Medal Championship . Will be split into for sections if entries received. The highest placed pony in each
section will qualify for the final.. P(UK) Timberwolf & Brineton Qualifier

CLASS 45 NPS/Showing World Magazine SHOW PONY LEAD REIN & SHOW HUNTER PONY- LEAD
REIN . Leading Rein Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old & over not exceeding 122cms. Riders not to have
attained their 8th birthday (Show Ponies) and 9th Birthday (SHP) before 1st January in the current year. To
be led by an attendant and shown in a snaffle bridle. Lead rein to be attached to the noseband only. . P(UK)
Timberwolf & Brineton Qualifier.

CLASS 46 NPS/Showing World Magazine SHOW PONY FIRST RIDDEN & SHOW HUNTER PONY.
First Ridden Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 122cm. Riders not to have attained
their 10th birthday before 1st January in the current year. To be shown in any suitable bridle. . P(UK)

CLASS 47 NPS PART BRED RIDDEN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIER. Open to Stallions, mares
and geldings four years old and over. Two sections of this class will be run, if sufficient entries, as per NPS
rules. A) Part Bred Arab. Min 12.5% and B) Part Bred M & M. Min 12.5% Rider any age, except stallions (see
NPS rules. A. 3.2). NPS/Area 25 Young Rider Qualifier for riders up to 25yrs .

Class 47a. Championship for 1st & 2nd prize winners of classes 38-47 inclusive.
