1) Chemical Engg.

PEOs & POs


Programme Educational Objectives
The Programme has the following educational objectives:
• To prepare students for successful practice in diverse fields of chemical
engineering such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, polymers / advanced materials,
energy, biotechnology and environmental engineering and in the fields of societal
expectations on time.
• To prepare students for advanced studies in Chemical Engineering and its allied
fields.
• To ensure our students are recognized for excellence and leadership and selected
for high-ranking industrial, academic, government and other professional
positions.
• To develop students’ skills and awareness to become socially, ethically and
morally responsible individual in all the challenges they take over in our
communities and in the field of chemical engineering.
2) Programme Outcomes

The Programme Outcomes (POs) are as follows:


(a) An ability to identify, formulates, and solve engineering problems:
Students will be able to (1) combine mathematical and/or scientific principles to
formulate models of chemical, physical, and/or biological processes and systems relevant
to chemical engineering, (2) apply concepts of integral and differential calculus and/or
statistics to solve chemical engineering problems, and (3) apply the governing equations
and underlying concepts of material balances, energy balances, thermodynamics, heat
transfer, mass transfer, fluid flow, chemical reaction kinetics, reaction engineering,
separations, process dynamics, and/or process control to chemical engineering problems
(b) An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs:
Students will be able to (1) analyze and synthesize chemical engineering unit
operations, including integrated complex systems consisting of multiple unit operations,
and (2) include constraints such as economic, health and safety, ethical, environmental,
and social considerations in designing systems and processes.
(c) An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and
interpret data:
Students will be able to (1) follow an experimental protocol with attention to
safety, (2) operate laboratory and pilot scale equipment following a standard operating
procedure, (3) use statistics to report confidence intervals, compare for significant
differences, and judge whether an experimental variable has a significant effect on the
measured outcome, (4) design and conduct an experiment which will test a given
hypothesis, and (5) analyze and interpret experimental data.
(d) An ability to communicate effectively:
Students will be able to (1) produce effective written communication, (2) produce
effective oral communication, and (3) adapt their presentation style and content to match
the audience.
(e) An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility:
Students will be able to (1) understand ethical aspects of chemical engineering, (2)
understand the impact of the profession on society, and (3) understand the importance of
professional excellence and service to the profession.
(f) An ability to function on multidisciplinary teams:
Students will be able to (1) demonstrate the ability to describe chemical
engineering problems and solutions to people in other disciplines, (2) gain knowledge of
technical skills, issues, and approaches germane to disciplines outside of chemical
engineering, (3) solve problems in cooperation with a group of colleagues from other
disciplines, and (4) lead effectively by drawing out the skills in others.
(g) The broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering
solutions in a global and societal context:
Students will have an understanding of (1) global economic, environmental,
demographic and political issues, (2) the impact of engineering decisions on the local and
global environment, economy, and society, and (3) cultures other than that from which
they originate.
(h) A recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in lifelong learning:
Students will (1) be proficient in the use of a variety of informational and
educational media such as traditional textbooks, scientific and technical journals, the
library system as a whole, the internet, and educational software, (2) have an
understanding of and exposure to the breadth and structure of the professional and
technical support system that will be available to the students upon graduation; this
includes professional and technical societies, the continuing education needed to maintain
professional relevance, and professional registration systems, (3) have an awareness of the
dynamic, evolving nature of science, engineering, technology, and industry, and an
understanding that learning does not end with a degree, and (4) have the ability to learn on
their own.

(i) A knowledge of contemporary issues:

Students will be able to (1) identify and analyze current social, economic, political,
and environmental issues, and (2) recognize the impact of technology on local, national,
and international issues.

1) Programme Educational Objectives


The Civil Engineering program will produce graduates that, within a few years of
graduation, will

1. Actively engage in problem solving using engineering principles to


address the evolving needs of the society
2. be able to succeed in positions in civil engineering practice or research,
and in other fields they choose to pursue and enrol in advanced studies
3. Make ethical decisions and demonstrate a commitment to service to the
profession and society.
4. Acquire a position or degree that values adaptability and innovation in
their work.
5. Pursue lifelong learning, and to be leaders, both in their chosen
profession and in other activities.

2) Programme Outcomes
The Course outcomes of B. Tech. Civil Engineering program are given above and
also in Program Curriculum section with respective subjects. The program
outcomes are as follows. Parameters on which the PO's of the program are based
are given as below and aim of PO's is to enable students to:
a. Work in Civil Engineering sector which is involved with various aspects of
planning, design, construction and operation of structures and systems.
b. Design and analyse the complex problems and provide state of the art solutions.
c. Contribute to the academic and research in the broad field of civil engineering.
d. Develop knowledge and skills in the area of broad domain of civil engineering
including construction technology, water resources, environmental engineering,
geotechnical engineering, geospatial technology and transportation engineering.
Program outcomes adopted for correlation to course outcomes.
Graduates Attributes (GA's) form a set of individually assessable outcomes
that are the components indicative of the graduate's potential to acquire
competence to practice at the appropriate level. The GA's are indicators of
the attributes expected of a graduate from an accredited program. The
Graduates of this program must acquire:
a. An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering to
solve Civil engineering problems
b. An ability to identify, formulate, design and conduct experiments, as well as
to analyze and interpret data
c. An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs
within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, safety,
and sustainability
d. An ability to understand engineering and management functions and to be
able to function on multidisciplinary teams
e. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve civil engineering problems

social benefit of the civil engineering project

3) Computer Sci. & Engg. PEOs & POs


1) Programme Educational Objectives
1. Achieve the understanding of the basics and emerging techniques of a broad
range of computer science and engineering concepts. Gain the ability to
analyze and solve computer science and engineering problems through
application of fundamental knowledge of maths, science, and engineering.
2. Learn to apply modern skills, techniques, and engineering tools to create
computational systems. Understand the state of the art in the recent areas of
research in computer science and engineering and to formulate problems
from them and perform original work to contribute in the advancement of
the state of the art.
3. To be able to adapt to the evolving technical challenges and changing career
opportunities. Learn to effectively communicate ideas in oral, written, or
graphical form and to promote collaboration with other members of
engineering teams.

1) To obtain sound knowledge in the theory, principles and applications of
computer systems.
2) Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering in the design
and development of software systems.
3) Configure recent software tools, apply test conditions, and deploy and
manage them on computer systems.
4) Perform experiments on different software packages either obtain from
external parties or developed by themselves and analyse the experimental
results.
5) Design and develop software projects given their specifications and within
performance and cost constraints.
6) Identify, formulate and solve software engineering problems and
understand the software project management principles.
7) Ability to understand the computing needs of inter-disciplinary scientific
and engineering disciplines and design and develop algorithms and
techniques for achieving these.
8) Acquire and understand new knowledge, use them to develop software
products, and to understand the importance of lifelong learning.

1) Programme Educational Objectives

The main Programme Educational Objectives of UG program are

1. To develop graduate engineers ready for modern electrical power and energy
industry.
2. To develop graduate engineers having enhanced analytical skills to solve
industrial problems.
3. To build the students’ capacity in pursuing skills and knowledge in the
emerging areas of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
4. To produce graduates with perspective for environmental issues by sensitizing
and building the awareness of green technologies.
5. To produce graduates with problem solving culture through familiarization
with the state-of-art facilities in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
laboratories.

2. Programme Outcomes
The Program Outcomes (POs) are as follows:-
a. Work in industry and user departments with the knowledge of mathematics,
science, and Electrical Engineering.
b. Shoulder responsibilities in planning and utilization of Electrical Energy by
analyzing the processes critically..

5) Electronics Engg. PEOs & Pos

Programme Educational Objectives:


I. To develop the ability among students to understand the concept of
Mathematics, Physics and core electronics subjects which will facilitate
understanding of new technology.
II. To provide student with a strong foundation in the engineering fundamentals
necessary to formulate, solve and analyze engineering problems and to
prepare them for graduates studies, R&D, consultancy and higher learning.
III. To build up skills to analyze the requirements of the electronics, understand
the technical specifications, design and provide novel engineering solutions
and efficient product design.
IV. To prepare graduates who possess the necessary foundation required to take
up gainful employment in core sector and allied sector or prepare them for a
successful career and work professional to meet the technical acquaintance of
Indian and multinational companies.
V. To give exposures to emerging edge technologies, adequate training and
opportunities to work as team on multidisciplinary projects with effective
communication skills and leadership qualities.

Graduates in will be able to attain following outcomes:
a. To gain necessary background in fundamentals engineering concepts to pursue
undergraduates studies in electronics and Communication Engineering.
b. Learn Electronics system design so to be part of ever growing electronics
industry.
c. Acquire through knowledge in Tele-communication, wireless communication
system, data communication techniques, satellite communication which form the
backbone of current communication technology.
d. Learn to use digital signal processing, embedded systems and VLSI techniques
for different engineering applications.
e. Develop the ability to analyze and solve real world engineering problems related
to electronics and communication systems.
f. Gain adequate technical and theoretical background of on programming
techniques purse career in software industries.
g. Design and implement complex systems as a part of Research Projects over two
semesters

be a part of growing group of managers for industry through higher education

A. Additional Programme Outcomes (POs)
1. The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has a strong focus
on providing students with a strong background in mathematics, science and
engineering. The department provides students with adequate practical training by
way of laboratory sessions, design and problem based learning.
2. Students shall participate and succeed in competitive examinations such as GATE,
GRE and TOEFL, PSUs and may admit to various programs like Master of
Science (Abroad/ India), Master of Technology (India) and Doctor of Philosophy
(India/ Abroad).
3. Students will be able to realize their ideas with the help of ‘Incubation Centre’
established within college premises and will be able to participate in National /
International level project (Design/ Coding) competitions organized by Industry/
Institutes.
4. With the help of technical and entrepreneur skills students will be able to employ
appropriate techniques using hardware and software engineering tools for modern
engineering applications and will demonstrate an ability to apply their knowledge
of advanced mathematics and electronics engineering principles towards creating
new technologies that helps students to establish their own industries/ ventures.
5. With the help of established laboratories (ATMEL MCU Centre, TEXAS
INSTRUMENTS Analog Laboratory) students are working with cutting edge
technology and can pursue their career in the specific areas.
6. By working amid project groups of various projects sponsored by DST, BARC
(Govt. of India funded projects), students can participate and gain research
experience which will be useful for pursuing a career in various government and
private R&D centres in India and Abroad.
7. Through the work experience gained from summer / winter training programs
conducted by the expert faculties from the department and at various reputed
organizations in India and Abroad, students can have up to date knowledge of the
specific field and can pursue career in that field.

1) Programme Educational Objectives
PEOs of the B.Tech program are as following:
(I) To impart to the students knowledge of contemporary science
and mechanical engineering related subjects.
(II) To enhance analytical skills of the students for decision making.
(III) To provide opportunity to the students to expand their horizon
beyond mechanical engineering.
(IV) To prepare the students to take-up career in different industries
or to pursue higher studies in mechanical and interdisciplinary
programs.
(V) To create awareness amongst the students towards social,
environmental and energy related issues.
(VI) To introduce the students to the professionalism and effective
communication skills.

Graduates of the Programme will,

and an appreciation for mining as a profession with regards to safety,
