Republican Democracy in the United States

There are five ideals that are in The Declaration of independence that represent how we

live in the United States. Those five ideals are democracy, equality, liberty, opportunity, and

rights. Rights are fundamental rules that are followed everyday by people. Democracy is a

government in which the supreme power is vested in the people. Liberty and Equality let people

speak freely and having equal in rights and opportunities. Republican democracy was a

governing party that was founded by Thomas Jefferson in 1799. Obama did a great job

representing these Ideals by passing various laws that benefit the country.

The United States Constitution divides power into three Branches. They are split up so

that the power is split up. It is meant to not give one branch all the power of the country. These

three branches are the legislative, judicial branch and executive branch. Each one of these

branches have their own specific job. The executive branch, mainly ran by president, enforces

the laws that the Legislative Branch makes. The legislative branch, called congress, has two parts

to it senate and house of representatives. The legislative branch has the power to make and

debate whether a law should be passed. Judicial branch, Supreme Court and 9 Justices, interpret

laws according to the constitution. This shows how the American ideals are used in the United

States.

As Barack Obama’s (first African american president) time as president is coming to an

end, he did a good job confronting the democratic values. He passed various laws that benefitted
the country. He legalized something that was very controversial in our country at the time which

was gay marriage. This is a good thing because people can express themselves far more because

of this. People aren’t scared to reveal themselves. He also passed Obamacare which gave people

the opportunity to afford health care. Barack Obama did a great job and made many people

happy because he actually listened to people and cared about them as well. Barack Obama did

many things to represent our ideals. For example making gay marriage legal represents equality

and liberty.

The five Ideals represents how we live in the United States. They are represented by the

government and people everyday. Barack Obama did a great job as president and did a great job

representing the Ideals. The United States constitution has three parts for it so that the power is

split up. You can find many examples of the ideals in the government.
