Introduction
This manual describes how to connect the Display and the External Device (target PLC).
In this manual, the connection procedure will be described by following the sections below:

• One Display can access up to 32 External Devices.


• One network can contain up to 64 Displays and External Devices in total.
• Make sure to attach a terminator to the terminal on the network.

2 Selection of External Device

Select the External Device to be connected to the Display.

Setup Items Setup Description


Select the maker of the External Device to be connected. Select "Schneider Electric
Maker
Industries".
Select the model (series) of the External Device to be connected and connection method.
Select "MODBUS PLUS".
Series Check the External Device which can be connected in "MODBUS PLUS" in system
configuration.

Check this option when you synchronize the system data area of the Display and the device
(memory) of the External Device. When they are synchronized, you can use the ladder
program of the External Device to switch the display or to display the window on the
Display.

Use System Area
This can also be set with GP-Pro EX or in off-line mode of the Display.

3 Example of Communication Setting

The following shows examples of communication settings of the Display and the External Device, which is
recommended by Digital Electronics Corp.

3.1 Setting Example 1


„ Settings of GP-Pro EX
‹ Communication Settings
To display the setting screen, select [Device/PLC Settings] from [System setting window] in workspace.

‹ Device Setting
To display the setting screen, click ([Setting]) of External Device you want to set from [Device-Specific
Settings] of [Device/PLC Settings]. To connect multiple External Devices, click from [Device-Specific
Settings] of [Device/PLC Settings] to add another External Device.

You need not set the communication settings of the External Device.

4 Setup Items

Set the communication settings of the Display with GP-Pro Ex or in off-line mode of the Display.
The setting of each parameter must be identical to that of the External Device.

4.1 Setup Items in GP-Pro EX
„ Communication Settings
To display the setting screen, select [Device/PLC Settings] from [System setting window] in workspace.

Unit ID Use an integer from 1 to 64 to enter the unit ID of the Display.

„ Device Setting
To display the setting screen, click ([Setting]) of External Device you want to set from [Device-Specific
Settings] of [Device/PLC Settings].
To connect multiple External Devices, click from [Device-Specific Settings] of [Device/PLC Settings] to
add another External Device.

[Equipment Configuration] tab

Enter the slave address of the External Device.
If the communication is routed through External Devices, you need to enter their station
addresses from the left.
For example, if the communication is routed through the External Device with Station
Equipment Address Address 6 to that with Station Address 2 on another network, enter "6", "2","0", "0", "0"
in [Equipment Address] from the left.
[Equipment Address] consists of five levels. Enter "0" for unused ones. In the above
example, "0" is entered in the three boxes on the right because the communication is
routed to the second-level External Device.
Bit manipulation [set/
reset] on Holding Register Select how other bits in the same word are handled when you manipulate bits in the

Holding Register Set the maximum number of data for device [Holding Register] that can be read per
Read communication, from 1 to 125 words.

Holding Register Set the maximum number of data for device [Holding Register] that can be written per
Write communication, from 1 to 100 words.

4.2 Setup Items in Off-Line Mode

• Please refer to the Maintenance/Troubleshooting manual for more information on how to enter
off-line mode or about the operation.

„ Communication Settings
To display the setting screen, touch [Device/PLC Settings] from [Peripheral Equipment Settings] in off-line mode.
Touch the External Device you want to set from the displayed list.

Unit ID Use an integer from 1 to 64 to enter the unit ID of the Display.

To display the setting screen, touch [Device/PLC Settings] from [Peripheral Equipment Settings]. Touch the
External Device you want to set from the displayed list, and touch [Device Settings].

Enter the slave address of the External Device.

Bit manipulation on HR holding register, as "Rest of bits in word are cleared" or "Rest of bits in word are not
cleared". (Not available to set in off-line mode.)
Displays the usage status of the currently set IEC61131 syntax as ON/OFF. (Not
IEC61131 Syntax
available to set in off-line mode.)
Displays the currently set order of storing double word data as "Low word first" or "High
Double Word word order
word first". (Not available to set in off-line mode.)

• The addresses 100000 and 300000 cannot be accessed using IEC61131 syntax.
• If you apply IEC61131 syntax to a project that has a discrete input or input register already set,
the addresses become "-Undefined-".

7 Error Messages

Error messages are displayed on the screen of Display as follows: "No.: Device Name: Error Message (Error
Occurrence Area)". Each description is shown below.

Name of External Device where an error has occurs. Name of External Device is a title of
Device Name
External Device set with GP-Pro EX. (Initial value [PLC1])
Error Message Displays messages related to the error that has occurred.
Displays IP address or device address of External Device where error occurs, or error codes
received from External Device.

Error Occurrence Area


• IP address is displayed as "IP address (Decimal): MAC address (Hex)".
• Device address is displayed as "Address: Device address".
• Received error codes are displayed as "Decimal [Hex]".

Display Examples of Error Messages


"RHAA035: PLC1: Error has been responded for device write command (Error Code: 2[02H])"
