DENOSTA, Kim Alyssa R.

STEM 12 – 25

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN CIVIL ENGINEERING

I choose this course as my first choice because I want to expose in the work on
planning, design, construction, supervision, and maintenance of buildings and
infrastructures. I am more interested on building home settlements (large scale
housing projects), commerce (shopping malls), education (schools/universities)
and infrastructures of transportation (roads, railroads, bridges, ports, airports).
I imagine building and constructing houses as my work in the future but this
course in terms of building houses is a little bit priority because roads and the
definition above about the course is the prioritize one but I can deal with this
course and willing to be one.

Civil Engineers said to be collaborating with architects with regards to the

design of infrastructures. Also, they coordinate and supervise construction,
working with other engineers and contractors. Civil engineers make decisions
on the best materials and methods, review and approve projects drawings,
manage budgets, schedule equipment and materials purchases and delivery,
and make necessary changes when the situation warrants or when clients
change their minds about something.

boundaries; their land descriptions are used in leases and deeds
o Drafters – engineers hand their notes and other information to
drafters so they can make visual guidelines for the engineers or
construction crews
o Technicians – assist engineers or researchers with the development
and handling of the technical aspects of civil engineering; they set up
equipment, perform experiments and collect information for scientists
and engineers

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ARCHITECTURE

I choose this course as my second choice because Architecture is definitely

related to Civil Engineering works in terms of building and the like but this is
planning, designing, and constructing buildings taking into the principles of
utility, strength and aesthetics. Civil Engineering works are done in application
and more works on the field while the Architecture is designing or the written
output of what is going to happen on the actual field where Civil Engineers
work.

This is also my desired course because it is all about designing. I think if I

graduated in this course I am the one who designs the building and other
infrastructures based on what I visualized it in my mind.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN INTERIOR DESIGN

I choose this course as my third choice. I think this course is what I love but
not totally because this is the scope of what I want to do like interior design
furniture and accessories designs, exhibition design, interior landscaping
design and lighting design but this is not the only scope of Interior designing.
Also, visual merchandising, production design, photography, fashion and other
crafts are the least of what I want to do.

Interior Design as a course trains and educates students in core business

fundamentals such as accounting, economics and marketing, in addition to
design basics such as architecture history, textiles and decorative arts. Also,
the program teaches skills such as operating computer-aided design
technology, reading blueprints, and understanding building codes and
deciphering market trends.
