AEA Cabaret Contract

• If the Actor agrees to the salary, the Producer doesn’t require an Agent to intervene
with negotiation.
• The Producer must announce before each performance that the taking of pictures and
recordings is not allowed. If the aisles are used, it must be announced that they are to
be clear. A no smoking announcement must be made before each performance.
• Casting notices must be made at least two weeks in advance.
• If a Chorus Actor is required to play a part that is individual in character, they will
receive no less that $17 a week plus weekly salary. For understudying a Principal Role,
no less than $20 a week plus weekly salary. For understudying a part, no less than $15 a
week plus weekly salary. Swings are paid no less than $15.
• Producer must provide costumes except modern conventional undergarments.
• Producer must provide new footwear for required dancing members. Provided one
week prior to dance rehearsal.
• Costumes will be cleaned at the Producers expense AT LEAST every two weeks. The
Producer shall make best efforts to have costumes aired after each performance.
• Producer furnishes unconventional makeup as well as knee and elbow pads if activity
requires.
• Actors must agree in writing to all hair changes.
• There must be a Dance Captain if there is choreography or musical staging and they
must be paid no less than 15% of applicable minimum.
• Cabaret shall mean a 90 minutes or less theatrical production, including intermission
where the majority of the audience is seated at tables and chairs.
• Duties of the ACTOR
o Be prompt at rehearsals
o Be at the theatre no later than a half hour before performance
o Properly care for the Actor’s costumes and props
o Respect the physical property
o Pay strict regard to makeup and dress
• In productions with four or more performances per week in which the total weekly
Actor minimum salary is less than $400, a Health contribution of no less than the
prevailing LOA Health Rate shall be paid on behalf of each Actor.
• Producers shall supply housing with a full kitchen and private bathroom at no cost to the
Actor.
• Producer must provide transportation from housing if there is no public transportation
or living more than a half mile from the theatre.
• Producer may terminate contract if Actor is absent due to illness or injury a full seven
days of rehearsal.
• No more the two performances in a day. No performances before 2:00pm nor conclude
later than 11:30pm except when a twi-night performance is given. If given seven days
notice, student matinee performances may start before two.
• Eight performances in any one week of six out of seven consecutive days shall constitute
a week’s work.
• Over time is paid at the rate of $9 per one half hour.
• Producer shall provide refreshments to all Actors and Stage Managers between twi-
night performances.
• Dance rehearsal must have sprung dance floor.
• Ample, pure, cool drinking water shall be provided.
• At least 30 inches of dressing table space.
• Producer shall provide two clean cots backstage for any performer who may become ill
during a rehearsal or performance.
