February 2018 To Whom It May Concern:
It is my pleasure to write a letter of recommendation on behalf of Tom Hurley. Tom has
been student teaching at Robinson Park Elementary School for the last few months. During his time at Robinson Tom has demonstrated professionalism, willingness to learn, and taken on full teaching responsibilities seamlessly. Over the course of his student teaching experience Tom has developed unit plans for basketball skills, jump rope skills, soccer skills, and has assisted with a rollerblading unit. Tom understands simple to complex progressions, and consistently allows students multiple opportunities to practice their skills in an engaging learning environment. Tom uses best practices in physical education to create a positive learning atmosphere for his students. He pinpoints proficient skills, uses positive reinforcement, and praises good sportsmanship and fair play. Tom shows his range as he works with Kindergarten through 4th grade students. He knows how to differentiate his instruction, and provide developmentally appropriate instruction for his students at each level. Tom possess the skill set, caring nature, and patience to provide a wonderful physical education experience. Other than his diligence in the gymnasium, it is important to note other attributes that speak to his performance during his student teaching experience. Tom is always early to arrive to school in the morning, he attends professional learning community (PLC) meetings to collaborate with other professionals, and he stays after school to assist with dismissal procedures. Tom understands that even in these informal situations, he still has the opportunity to develop relationships with his students and staff, and he fully takes advantage of it. I am confident that Tom Hurley will make a wonderful addition to your staff.
