ESSAY QUESTIONS FOR THE REGIONAL COORDINATOR

APPLICANTS
INSTRUCTIONS: Applicants are given a maximum of ONE
hour to answer the essay questions. Applicants are not
allowed to use the internet and are not allowed to look
into their notes in answering the essay questions.Kindly
approach the staff if you need more paper or writing
materials.
1. With the Free Tuition Fee policy (with conditional veto provided by
Pres. Duterte) to be implemented on the first semester of Academic
Year 2017 – 2018, if you have the power to make the necessary
ranking for prioritization, how will you rank the following: SUC
students from non-poor families but deserving, SUC students who are
poor but not deserving, SUC students who are poor and deserving and
SUC students from non-poor families and not deserving. Please
provide explanation to the ranking as well as all other considerations
that must be taken in the Free Tuition Fee prioritization.

Ans: If I have the power to make a necessary rankings for prioritization

of the availment of scholarship programs of the government, I would
choose to prioritize the SUC Students who are poor but deserving. In
my line of work as an ESGPPA Focal I have encountered students who
are members of Pantawid Pamilya during our interview for possible
replacements, those students really excels in their academic
performance but they didn’t had the chance to continue their studies
due to financial constraints. Some of them work as a “tindera” just to
augment their finances because they are willing to finish their studies
and because they have a dream. A dream that someday if they will be
a graduate of a 4 years course they could alleviate the situation of
their families free from hunger and slavery.

2. Write a position essay on having a College Readiness Examination to

be administered to ALL Grade 12 students before graduation.
 Specifically, explain if such an exam is needed, why, and how it should
be implemented, if ever.

3. In the light of having priority degree programs, dying degree programs

and job mismatches in the industries, write a position essay on having
a UniFAST Registry of Accredited Higher Education Institutions and
Programs. Again, explain if such aregistry is needed, why, and how it
should be implemented, if ever.
