Project Leadership / Systems / HSE / Startup & Turnaround / Business Development / Cost Control
Planned and led implementation of high-impact initiatives to streamline operations, deliver critical projects and
programs ahead of schedule, and reduce costs for Chevron, Unocal and others. Developed new ideas and
operating improvements in drilling, field engineering, and operations support to speed development, improve
efficiency, and increase customer satisfaction for projects worldwide. Can contribute quickly by:
 Reengineering processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency & safety
 Planning & executing rapid change and transformation
 Delivering accelerated results with minimal business disruption
 Aligning operations and controls with changing business requirements
Hardworking with first rate communication & negotiating skills. Build consensus and take strong action to implement
needed change. Received a BS degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University. Multiple achievement
award winner, including prestigious Chairman’s Award at Unocal. US Marine Corps veteran, honorably discharged.
SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Redesign of Chevron’s Global D&C Standards and Guidelines. Existing Drilling & Completions Standards
process was cumbersome and time-consuming. Helped steer a cross-functional team in an effort that simplified,
streamlined, and partially automated the processes. Successfully rolled-out new more efficient system worldwide.
Provided 24x7 engineering & operational support for new-build rigs in Thailand. Tasked with bringing new-
build rigs from the shipyard into a highly-efficient fleet. Managed extensive preparations in staffing, safe operations,
and crew training. Successfully brought new rigs into the fleet incident and major accident free, a rare feat.
Resolved legal dispute to recover $2.2M for Chevron. Long-running contract dispute in Sumatra had bogged
down. Negotiated with operations, various attorneys, and management from both companies to reach an amicable
resolution. Despite leaving for the next assignment, stayed engaged and eventually recovered $2.2M for Chevron.
Introduced batch drilling in Nigeria to achieve $26.1M savings. Wells had been designed, drilled, and completed
the same way for decades. Persuaded Chevron Asset Management Team to accept design changes. Trained rig
crews extensively on new concepts and methods. Achieved $26.1M savings with 70+ days faster delivery time.
Implemented new technology to increase production and save $2.5M D&C costs. PK Producer wells could be
redesigned/completed to make them more productive. Worked collaboratively with stakeholders and technical
experts to test & prove new design. Saved $2.5M in D&C cost and generated millions in additional booked reserves.
Set world records for Unocal by drilling & completing 14 wells in 62 days. Unocal Thailand Drilling operation
was top-rated but had room for improvement. Worked more collaboratively with Asset Team and service providers
to improve efficiency. Funan-J was quickest platform (J-13 was fastest well) in history, setting two world records.
