Biography & Amanda is currently working on her Masters of Education for Change from Lakehead University, focusing on
Highlights decolonizing international teacher education and volunteering in Southeast Asia; her masters portfolio will be
the creation of a new training program for teachers in developing countries. She approaches teaching &
learning through the lens of holistic, democratic pedagogy & social justice.
Amanda developed a free, open-source grade tracking program that works with the Ontario assessment system
and can be modified to fit other curricula. She has threaded subject-centred learning, technology, and language
support throughout her courses and has produced papers and training to help other teachers do the same.

Experience -- Facilitated department meetings. provided PD and collaboration for new pedagogical tools (i.e. COP’s)
Significantly increased the cohesiveness of the department through community building
Classroom Experience:
- IB Economics, Marketing (BMI3C), Business Leadership (BOH4M), and Accounting (BAF3M)
- Developed a flipped classroom model and increased student engagement, grades, and ELL learner support.
- Successfully taught five semesters of paperless courses, including the first ever paperless exams at SIS.
Technology Coach:
- Developed, implemented, and customized a new, free, open-source grade book program as part of the
technology coaching team that incorporates Ontario curriculum requirements, works with Google tools, and
saves teachers administration time.
- Facilitated technology coaching for Google Classroom and related educational technology tools through
staff professional development seminars, online learning, and on-the-job assistance.
- Assisted administration by streamlining support systems reducing feedback time and teacher workload.
- Developed a new electronic teaching binder system which was implemented across the Canadian program.
Extracurricular Activities:
- Worked with DECA International to establish the first ever Southeast Asian DECA conference (April 2017)
- Initiated the formation of the first SIS Cooking Club, growing it to a consistent 20 members.
