Victorian Rail Industry Operators'

Group Standards (VRIOGS)

The Victorian Rail Industry Operators' Group (VRIOG) Standards have been
produced by a collaborative committee made up of one nominated representative
from each of the members of the Victorian Rail Industry Operators' Group (VRIOG).

The members of the VRIOG are:

• Australian Rail Track Corporation

• Metro Trains Melbourne
• VicTrack
• V/Line
• Yarra Trams
• Public Transport Victoria

Under PTV, a new approach to standards development will commence.

In the new approach, modern standards will consist of overarching policies

developed by PTD (PTV), and operating standards developed by the AROs in line
with the overarching policies. These will be submitted by the ARO for endorsement
by PTD (PTV) against the long term asset strategies, interoperability requirements
and the “triple bottom line” (social, economical and environmental).

The development of a set of standards is an activity that will occur over 2–3 years.
During that time an interim set of standards is proposed, comprised of:

• State policies, principles and strategies

• Accepted International Standards
• Accepted Australian Standards
• Accepted VRIOGS
• Accepted ARO Standards
• Waivers

The long term vision for modern standards will be comprised of:

• State policies, principles and strategies

• Australian / International Standards
• ARO Standards
