Basic Function and Scope:
The Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer supports the Project
Management Team (PMT) during FEED as well as detailed
engineering, construction, commissioning and start up phases of
the Project. Ensure that the C&I design and installation meet the
Project safety, environmental, operational, quality, cost, design, and
schedule objectives. An ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team is
required as well as strong computer literacy.

Tasks and Duties:

• Responsible for control system design for the facilities and
ensures that the work is executed in a coordinated way to meet the
project objectives and the plant can be operated and controlled with
minimum operator intervention.
• Facilitate and coordinate all C&I design, detailed engineering and
construction work related to the project to adhere to project
schedule. Evaluate / comment work performed by the Contractor
and sub-contractors to insure that the work is being executed in
accordance with project specifications, company standards, and
regulatory requirements. Includes review of C&I design drawings,
documents, and specifications. Steward C&I engineering queries
from the Contractor and sub-contractors as well as technical
information requests.
• Identify and assess deviations to Contract Technical Specifications
and regulatory requirements; ensure that such deviations will be
processed according to project procedures.
• Participate and contribute in project design reviews, HAZID,
HAZOP, SIL reviews. Participate in C&I engineering 3D model
reviews and design reviews.
• Conduct meetings with the contractor and vendors to ensure
smooth progress of control and instrument activities. Conduct
project team member briefing sessions with respect to C&I
engineering requirements and processes. Coordinate owner and
PMT C&I engineering portions of design reviews including 3D
model review to minimize disruption of the contractor’s work.
• Directs and oversees the activities of inspection, monitoring and
certifying the quality of instruments and equipment and project
installations. Reviews inspection programs, inspections, FAT and
SAT on systems and components related to control and instrument
function.
• Steward the process of capturing and communicate C&I
engineering and design lessons learned for the project.
• Support Engineering Manager in stewarding the contractor’s
activities with respect to C&I engineering execution to ensure that
all relevant parties are familiar with engineering execution plans,
procedures, objectives, and overall job requirements, contractor
staffs the project with adequate numbers of qualified personnel,
contractor employs the appropriate design tools, including computer
hardware and software, contractor adheres to all appropriate
specifications and standards, contractor provides all engineering
deliverables, commissioning and 2 year operations spares as per
contract.

Required Qualification
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics/Instrumentation
Engineering

Required Experience
• Minimum 15 years’ experience in oil and gas/petrochemical
industry with at least 5 years of experience in projects.
• Excellent understanding of Process Plant Control requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
