INTRODUTION

As a part of our community posting of years B.SC nursing students of Padmashree


Institute of Nursing were posted in Maragondanahalli village.

Maragondanahalli is a village which comes under Sulikere PHC. First three days of
posting we were allotted for the survey.

Marargondanahalli is a very cooperative area. So we could do all our nursing


procedure. In the community each students were allotted to each house under
supervision of Mrs. Kala Suneetha, Mrs Divyashree and Miss Embham.

The table no.1 shows the distribution of population by age, i.e 13(1.99%) belongs
to the age group of infant,28(4.301%) toddler,38(5.83%) pre-schooler,53(8.14%)
schooler,50(7.68%) adolescent,399(61.29%) adult and 70(10.75%) old age.

Above table shows that 337(70.020%) people are married, 123(25.625%) people

The table no 5 represant the occupation status. 42[6.45] people have private
occupation 29 [4.45] have government occupation, 37 [5.69] have agriculture
workers, 23[3.53] have business, 56[8.61]are coolie workers, 32[4.91] are driver,
7[1.08] are skilled workers, 425[65.28]comes under other which includes students,
housewife,under five childrens and oldey aged people

Table no 6 shows that 43 [25.29%] of people have income below 5000, 70


[41.17%] people have income ranging from 5001-10000, 21 [12.35]% people have
income ranging from 10001-15000, 27 [15.86%] people have income ranging from
15001-20000 and 15001-20000 and [5.29%] people have 20001 and above

Table No. VII shows that the majority of the population regarding 651(100%)
belongs to Hindu and there is no any other religion like Christian, Muslim and
others.

The table no x shows that 118(83%) of houses dispose the


waste through open dumping,18(13%) of houses dispose by burning,6(4%) of
houses dispose the waste through manure pit and there is no any other types of
disposal of waste like composting and incineration.

Table XIV shows 122(70.93%) are eligible couples, 3(3.03%) uses condom,
20(20.2%) uses oral method, 7(7.07%) uses IUD, 16(16.6%) uses tubectomy,
3(3.03%) uses vasectomy, 50(29.07%) people does not adopt any family planning.

The above table no. xv shows that 60(100%) children got BCG vaccination
60(100%) got OPV 59(100%) got PENTA and 52(98.1%) got MEASLES
vaccination .

The table 16 represents the morbidity stauts. 620[95.24] people are healthy, 15
[2.30] people have hypertension, 10[1.54%]people have diabetes mellitus,
6[0.92%] people have other disease like aretheitis,TB,ARI, brain tumor, aneamia.

FINDINGS OF THE SURVEY

 Following the survey, the demographic details, environmental status, MCH and
family welfare status of Malligondanahalli village was known .

 The survey has been taken for 153 houses covering a population of 651 which
include 339 male and 312 female .

 Regarding the age distribution , majority of popultion from 1 to 6 years is


38(12.12%) and 103 (15.82%) fall in the range of 6 to 18 years and 469
(72.04%) fall in the range of 19 to 60 years .

 Regarding the sex ratio ,majority 339(52.o7%) are male and 312(47.92%) are
female.

 Regarding the marital status ,majority of the population 337(70.20%)are


married ,123(25.625%) are un married, 17(3.54%) are widow and 3(0.62%) are
widower .

 Regarding the educational status,majority of the population 194 (30 %) has


secondary education.

 Regarding the occupational status, majority of the population 42(6.45%) comes


under private occupation and 29(4.45%) comes under government and
23(3.53%)comes under business and agriculture is 37(5.69%) and 56(8.61%)
comes under coolie and 32(4.91%) comes under driver and 425(65.28%) comes
under other groups.

 Regarding the monthly family income , majority of population 9(5.29%) earn
monthly income avove 20,000.

 Regarding the distribution of religion 651(100%) are hindu.

ABOUT ENVIRONMENTAL STATUS

 Regarding the type of houses 88(57.5%) population lives in pucca house and
20(13.07%) in kutcha house.

 Regarding the distribution of water supply 599(92.01%) of the house depand on


the tank water,36(5.52%) depand on well water and 16(2.45%) depand on hand
pump and 0% for river water.

 Regarding the distribution of disposal of waste 118(83%) open dumping and of


excreta disposal by using latrine.

ABOUT MCH AND FAMILY WELFARE SERVICES.

 Regarding the distribution of the age of m marriage 127(24.37%) of the total


populatio got married between the age group of 15 to 25 years.

 Regarding the distribution of pregnancy status 36(33.028%) population


undergone primi-gravida pregnancy and 73(69.97%) population undergone
multi-gravida pregnancy.

 Regarding the delivery status ,majority of thr women 108(99.08%) undergone


normal vaginal delivery and 1(0.91%) undergone caeserian secction and
number of abortion is 3.

 Regarding the immunization status,60(100%) population got BCG,60(100%)
population got OPV,59(100%)population got PENTA and 52(98.11%)
population got measles.

 Regarding the morbidity status,15(2.30%)of population suffer from


hypertension and 10 (1.54%) of population suffer from diabetic mellitus.

 Regarding the family planning there are about 122(70.93%) eligible couples in
that 19(38.77%) has adopted peramanent method and 49(61.22%) has adopted
temporary method. Under that total couple protection rate is 49(49.4%).

PROBLEMS

As a part of our community posting, we were posted in Malligondanahalli and


following are the problems found:

 Acute respiratory infection
 Tuberculosis
 Stroke
 Arthritis
 Diarrhoea
 Malnutrition
 Worm infestation

b. Nutritional problems
 Protein energy malnutrition

c. Environmental problems
 Open dumping
 Poor water supply
 No sanitary latrine
 Stagnation of water
 Poor environmental sanitation
 Open drainage

d. Other problems
 Illiteracy
 Lack of knowledge about family planning
 Unemployment
 Inadequate knowledge about immunization
 Poverty

NEEDS
After findings, the needs of the Community are:
 Safe water supply
 Proper use of latrines
 Proper disposal of waste
 Health education regarding family planning method
 Availability of health services
 Transportation facilities
 Hospital
 Personal hygiene
 Immunization
 Environmental sanitation
 Anganwadi centres
 Heath education regarding balance

CONCLUSION

At the end of survey, we IV year BSc Nursing and II year P.B.Bsc students came
to a conclusion that Maragondanahalli village is a pleasant environment place. We
also came to know the disease condition and how the health been provided.

By the cooperation of the in the Maragondanahalli village and under the guidance
of our teacher we are were able to complete the survey and the demographic
details.
