The Sex Lives of Animals

The New York’s Museum of Sex has enlightened, educated and titillated people with the

knowledge on sexuality due to the variety of exhibits that covers all sexuality topics. In the past

13 years, the sex museum has been critical in creating awareness regarding sexuality. The paper

will provide insight to the life-size sculptures by Rune Olsen that illustrates the sex lives of

copulating animals. The sex exhibit consists of a deer threesome, created by the Norwegian

Artist in a stunning and exemplary manner (Moye). The sculpture depicts the Sex Lives of

Animals as it tries to compare and contrast the sexual behavior of human beings and animals.

The centerpieces showcase the amazing ability of the artist to convey his message through art.

The Sex Lives of Animals is an exhibit that demonstrates the sexual behavior of animals.

The display comprises of an uncensored deer threesome. The exhibit depicts animal sexuality

further from the restraints of reproduction and mating to the elements of orientation and

cognition. Numerous research in the field of animal behavior illustrates that animals take place

in an incredible array of sexual behaviors, acknowledging that sex is more than a biological

intention to reproduce. Shockingly, sexual partnerships and sexual acts of animals exists in

numerous ways. They include cuddling, kissing, hugging, or even self and mutual stimulation.

Furthermore, animals might also take part in oral sex or any other form of penetrable intercourse.

Sex that occurs is the animal kingdom has no much difference with sex in the human realm.

Although people have a feeling that sex-for-pleasure is only meant for human beings, it is clear

that even animals enjoy sex for pleasure. The Museum of Sex welcomes patrons to sightsee the

intimate part of the natural life cycle, where it is thought that humans are animal-like, and use

these concepts to understand sexuality issues (Moye). .

The Sex Lives of Animals are life-sized animal sculptures generated by Rune Olsen and

approved by The Museum of Sex. The sculptures are comprised of newspapers and tape social

materials and are used to examine the physical world with the imminence and articulacy of hand

drawing (Keim). Fascinatingly, the sculptures by Olsen consists of anatomically-incorrect,

human, glass eyes, which further contrast the common instincts and impulses of humans and

animals. The array of the sexual behaviors of animals is stunning and more similar to that of

human beings. The uncensored sculpture is spectacular and enlightens the audience that animals

also have sexual desire that drives them into copulation.

The sculpture helps us to understand the animal sexuality. The audience also eliminates

the illusions that undermine the ability of animals during sex. Olsen sends a message that sex is

not influenced by physicality or pleasured, but it is developed by a set of emotions. The deer

threesome consists of human-like eyes to indicate the extent at which the sex lives meets their

subjects. It remains challenging for people to interpret animal sexuality in a social context.

Animal sexuality in primates is more of utilitarian rather than personal. The exhibit illustrates the

egalitarian story of the natural world that attempts to bring the meaning of animal sexuality. The

museum of sex is critical because it consists of thousands of exhibits that create awareness of

animal sexuality. Olsen showcased his excellent skills and a gifted talent in creating the

sculpture.
