REINFORCEMENT CONTINUI TY SYSTEM

THE ADVANTAGES IN BRIEF

In recent years, the need for a more efficient splicing system is

becoming more apparent as a result of the increasing construction

complexities and design requirements.

The advantages of mechanical couplers overlapped joints:

.

Congestion of rebars with lapped joints, affecting the integrity of the structure. This can be avoided by using

couplers.

a

With the decreasing size of concrete sections, floor spaces are

maximized thus increase the value of building especially in prime development areas.

0

The transfer of load with lapped joints is entirely dependent upon the bonding of the surrounding concrete. Degradation of concrete could affect the performance of the joint.

0

With the use of couplers to connect starter bars, damages to the formwork can be avoided.

a

Material and cost savings as less steel is used.

o

Greener and ‘lighter’ building.

Terminator

Anchorage solution which effectively eliminates hooked bar

preparation, placement, and congestion problems.

Weldable Coupler

Effective and safe solution for connecting reinforcement rebars to

structural steel elements.

TYPE 5

Cast the concrete in rst phase

Type D

Rebar Bending Reinforcement Continuity System

The PLAKABOX is an effective and easy to install method for maintaining continuity of reinforcement at construction joints in concrete.

The PLAKABOX consists of a galvanized steel casing with pre- bent rebars housed inside, enclosed by a protective cover.

The complete unit is nailed to the formwork or wired to the main reinforcement cage. Concrete is then cast. After removing the formwork, rebars housed inside the casing are straightened, ready for lapping and concrete casting for the next stage.

The PLAKABOX system is potentially suitable for use in any con-

struction joint in concrete. The most commonly found applica- tions include:

plate casting unit. The strands are stressed individually by means of a mono strand jack. The strands are contained in one flat duct (duct size: 20mm x 70mm) which is made of corrugated galvanized metal. To ensure corrosion protection and to give adequate bond strength, the tendons are filled with a suitable cement grout mix after complete stressing of the strands. Facilitating of concrete placing due to the absence of tendons in the webs, and ease of placing tendons.

MPT MULTISTRAND ROUND SYSTEMS

A method of reinforcing and pre—stressing concrete, masonry

and other structural elements. Today, it is used for a wide

range of applications including office buildings, condominiums, hotels, parking structures, slab—on-ground foundations, ground

anchors, storage tanks, stadiums, silos, and bridges.

The systems are normally adopted for bonded tendons. The

tendons consist of a bundle of strands with a nominal diameter

of 0.5" (12.7 mm.) or 0.6" (15.2 mm.). The number of strands

per tendon can be from 4 strands up to 42 strands of diameter

0.5“ or 31 strands of diameter 0.6". The strands in the ten-

dons are contained in one round duct which is made of corru—

gated galvanized metal.

The strands are individually gripped in one anchor head unit and transmit their pre-stressing force by means of an anchor

plate casting unit. For each anchor size, special spiral rein- forcement is provided at the anchor plate casting to give ade- quate splitting reinforcement for bustling stresses developed at the anchorage zone. The strands in tendon are stressed simultaneously by means of a multi strand stressing jack from capacity 1,100 KN up to 5,000 KN. The strands can also be stressed individually by means of mono jack.

POST TENSIONING

STRANDS

The strands are formed with seven steel wires: one central wire around which the other six are wrapped. They are gener- ally supplied already stabilized (low relaxation) and certified according to the regulations by an independent laboratory, in coils weighing kg 2500-3000. Usually greased or waxed

strands, incased in a HDPE sheath, commonly called unbound-

ed, are used to manufacture the external tendons. Such strands can be hot- dipped galvanized

POST TENSIONING JACKS

The jack is placed over the strand and when tensioning starts they are automatically and simultaneously engaged in the pull- ing head of the jack. Once the required elongation and load are reached the lock—off device of the jack can be activated to house the wedges in the anchor head uniformly. The tension- ing can be accomplished in more steps basing the elongation of the cable. A tensioned cable can be released using proper releasing device

GROUTING

Cables are normally grouted after sealing their anchorages with the concrete or if required, using the proper grouting

caps. Before grouting the tendons, they should be flushed to ensure that no obstruction would impede the flow of the inject

ed grout.

The sand less grout, injected using on MPT grouting pumps, is kept under pressure during its curing. The waterto-cement ratio is kept as low as possible. Usually the proportion of ingre- dients are: 36-38 liters of water, 100kg of cement and addic- tive according to the instruction of the manufacturer. The mix produces 72-74 liters of grout.

FORTA

FORTA-FERRO® Advanced Concrete Reinforcing Fiber

FORTA-FERRO® is an easy -to-finish, color blended fiber, made of 100% virgin copolymer/ polypropylene consisting of a twist ed bundle non—fibrillating monofilament and a fibrillating net work fiber, yielding a highperformance concrete reinforce-

ment system.

FORTA—FERRO® is a blend of:

1. Standard fibrillated polypropylene fiber to reduce and

control shrinkage and temperature cracking.

2. A very heavy-duty twisted—bundle monofilament fiber made of a strong synthetic copolymer, to increase load transfer and post—crack performance. This pre—blended fiber is typically used in long lengths (2-1/4") and in high dosages (S to 30 lbs/cubic yard) to affect a higher re- placement level of reinforcing steel than standard syn-

To also ensure safe use of transport anchor systems with the required resistance values for cast-in anchors, HALFEN Transport anchor and trans- port anchor systems also meet the requirements of VDI/BV—BS regulation

6205.

The regulation titled "Transport an- chor and Transport anchor systems for precast concrete elements represents up-to-date technological knowledge in this field.

HALFEN ensures a constant high stand- ard of safety for its transport anchors and systems by complying with the requirements set in these regulations.

To confirm conformity with MD

2006/42/EC in conjunction with the VDl/BV-BS 6205 all HALFEN Trans-

port anchor systems are CE marked.

This catalogue is an installation and application instruction as defined in

VDl/BV-BS 6205

HALFEN - dependability

- high ductility — high performance even in extreme situations

Specially tempered steel guarantees extensive elastic and plastic properties. The required unique steel compositions to achieve product characteristics are specified by HALFEN. Numerous tests and many years of experience gua— rantee best possible results and the highest safety in all applications.

- increased dependable cold-toughness

irrespective of

— same characteristics

environmental conditions

The special composition of the steel ensures constant identical characteris- tics (temperature independent).

Steel used by HALFEN exceeds the requirment of DIN EN 10025.

To guarantee a high level of safety all HALFEN anchors and anchor systems are subjected to regular self— and third-party quality control. The quality control system is based on the quality and test requirements stipulated by the RAL association for anchoring and reinforcement technology.

Compliance with these stringent test and monitoring requirements is confir- med with the RAL mark.

By applying the CE mark in combina- tion with the RAL mark we guarantee continuous high quality and maximal safety for your company, your emplo- yees and for your customers.
