The Water Cycle

Water Cycle: The movement of water from Earth to the atmosphere and back
again.
o Evaporation: Heat energy changes liquid water to water vapor
(gas phase)
 Water is released from both salt and fresh water sources.
 It is released through animals by perspiration (sweating)
and urination.
 It is released through plant and trees through transpiration
(plant's sweating-seen as dew on the leaves).
o Condensation: Water vapor in the upper atmosphere cools and
changes back to liquid water. In order for clouds to form, dust
particles must be present for the water to cling to.

o Precipitation: The liquid or frozen water falls back down to the

Earth as (rain, snow, sleet or hail)

o Humidity: the measure of the amount of water vapor in the air.

o Relative Humidity: the percent of water vapor that is actually in the

air compared to how much water vapor the air can hold at a
particular temperature

o Dew Point: The temperature that condensation begins.
