Character Growth (How is the character different at the end of the game or story from
when the game or story began?): Jax starts the story as a slacker who doesn’t care about
anything besides hanging out with his friends and flying star fighters, hating any school work
that doesn’t directly relate to piloting. He desperately wants his father to be proud of him, so he
wants to be the best pilot in the Alliance. When the Solitrax Empire invades and attacks the
Academy, the students aren’t allowed help with the defense effort and are forced to hide as the
adults “handle it”. Jax, in an attempt to find a star fighter to sortie, accidentally stumbles upon
the 3D-DY suit. With the help of Tucker, he uses the suit to fight the invaders and save the
Academy. While the staff is initially angry, Rebecca convinces them to allow Jax to continue to
use the suit, as he was incredibly skilled with the suit. Thus begins Jax’s adventures against the
Solitrax Empire. By the end of the adventure, after many trials and tribulations, Jax has matured
from a hotheaded slacker and understand the responsibility levied on him, improving his grades
and mending the relationship with his father.
Describe a small segment of a narrative that could occupy 20-30 seconds of a short
animation or cut scene from a game where your character does something that conveys
emotion: funny, sad, surprised, etc. An example would be something like this: A kid in a
karate gi stands in front of a board ready to attempt to snap it. The board is suspended
between two cinder blocks as the kid tries every move to break the board, but the board
will not budge. Finally, after falling on the floor, he sits up and leans on the board with his
elbow, chin resting on his palm with the look of frustration on his face. The board snaps
and he falls again with a thud and dust puffs up: As the Solitrax Empire begins their assault
on the Earth Alliance, they begin their initial invasion by attacking the Academy. The teachers
and staff members sortie in the Academy’s star fighters to defend the Academy. They force the
students to hide in the cafeteria, which doubles as a bunker. Jax, Rebecca, and Tucker hide
behind a table. All 3 are upset that they aren’t allowed to help. Rebecca and Tucker think
rationally while Jax is furious, punching the ground in anger. He feels he should be allowed to
sortie in a fighter since he’s the “best pilot in this entire academy”. While the cafeteria is on
lockdown, all windows and doors are sealed shut, Jax notices a vent just big enough to fit him is
still open. He sneaks off with Tucker and Rebecca begrudgingly following.
