Literature of Asia

A sia comes from a borrowed Semitic root “asu” means “rising or light” In
reference to the sun, Asia would then mean “the land of sunrise”.
 It is the biggest of the seven continents of the world.
 It includes forty-four (44) countries and assorted island dependencies.
 Considered as the most thickly populated with about nearly three fifths
(3/5) or around 60% the total population of Asia in the whole world.
 It is the cradle of the human race, civilization and world religion. Asia is
also a home of several languages.
 The family is the smallest yet the most important unit of society in Asian
countries.
 Art plays a vital part of Asian people lives as they express their
intellectual and artistic ideals.
 Political experiences of Asia are the product of a long period of
colonization.
 Asia’s economy is predominantly agricultural but it has made Asia the
world’s fastest growing economic region.
 Therefore, the literature of Asia is no less diverse than the other
literatures in the world. The continent’s rich the cultural heritages and
histories have it made among the unique and exotic places on earth.
