3 Concept scoring
After we get the concept ideas from concept screening, the next step is
concept scoring. Concept scoring is a deeper analysis to choose the best concept
carefully by using some quantitative consideration. In order to make concept
scoring more accurate, every selection criterion in this step would be decided its
weight factor before we judge the concepts. Concept with the highest score
would be chosen as the best concept for our product. Every rating would be
multiplied with its weight factor for each criterion and as the result we got score.
Concept scoring will result one idea to be proposed as best ideas to be developed
rather than other concepts.

2.3.1 Preparation of Concept Selection Matrix

The matrix consists of selection criterion column, concepts column,
percentage factor column and rating column. On this matrix, all of
selections criterion are already break down to make some detailed selection
criterion. The concepts have typically been refined to some extent since
concept screening and may be expressed in more detail. For selection
criterion which have almost the same characteristics will be made into one
selection criterion. After all of selection criterion are arranged, the next
step is to set the weighting factors. Weighting factor (in percentage) is
decided based on groups subjectivity based on the rank of needs and
information from references.

2.3.2 Rate Concept

We can rate each of the idea by using this rating scale and criterion:
Table xx. Concept Rating
Easy to be adsorbed (xx%)
Rank Description
1 Complicated method and process to manufacture
2 Usual method but complicated process to manufacture
3 Usual method and process of manufacture
4 Easy process of manufacture and usual method
5 Conventional method and Easy process of adsorption

2.3.3 Rank The Best Concept

3.1 Final Concept and Specification

After we determined the final concept, we need to measure the products

specification that will be proposed.
