DISTRICT GOVERNOR
SERVE CHERISH CELEBRATE
I have great pleasure in communicating through the columns of LIONS ARISE for the third time during this year.
The first and second issues of our official Magazine were well received by our Lions family and my special thanks
to our Editorial Team headed by Lion Parvathy Viswanath. When this issue reaches you, the first six months of this
Lion's year would have been over. I really feel that our district is going in a positive way in all spheres. The service
projects are happening all over the place. All Cabinet Officers are optimistic and doing their best to fulfill their
commitments. Our Ocean Team Region Chairpersons and Zone Chairpersons, Cabinet Secretary, Cabinet
Treasurer, Coordinators, Advisors and the Executive secretary to District Governor Lion Elango are working
indefatigably. The support from the Past District Governors is massive.
All Ocean Team Zone Chairpersons have completed their First and second Zone Advisory meetings and were
duly reported by the Cabinet Secretary to the International.
Eight of our Lion members have attended the Regional Lions Leadership Institute (RLLI) at Kodaikanal in the last
week of September. I am sure our district will definitely create new standards in administration and activities in
the days to come in this year. Some of the highlights up to 10th January 2018:
LC MANALI GAV - 16th OCTOBER 2017 LC ROYPAURAM NORTH GAV 21st OCTOBER 2017
I had an opportunity to visit Lions Club Madras Manali On 21st October 2017 I made my annual visit to Lions
at Hotel Clarion on 16th October 2017. I was Club Royapuram North, one of the clubs with vibrant
accompanied by First and Second Vice District young leaders at Hotel Benz Park, T Nagar. The
Governors, Cabinet Secretary and Treasurer. I was administration and activities parts of the club were
surprised that no member from the club was very much impressed by me. The service projects

PATTIMANDRAM - 22nd OCTOBER 2017
District Pattimandram was conducted at
Malayalees' club, Chetpet. The date with the topic
“Valkai Enbathu Porattama or Poonthottama” was
headed by Mr Suki Sivam and four orators were
presented their views according to their sides. The
grand gala meeting was well organized by Lion A. G.
Sivaraman District Chairperson Pattimandram and
Lion M. Dhanasekar, Co District Chairperson
Pattimandram. The zero defect meeting was well
attended by more than 450 lions and their families
and enjoyed the delicious food at the venue. Thanks
to the organizers for their astonishing efforts.
SECOND PRE CABINET MEETING
26th OCTOBER 2017
The second Pre cabinet meeting was conducted at
Hyatt Regency, Annasalai, Chennai and attended by
all the past District Governors of the district except Lion
R. Natesan, PDG, Lion V. G. Narendra Babu, PDG and
Lion Dr. V. Annamalai, PDG, took leave of Absence.
Various points about the ongoing activities of the
District were discussed.
SECOND CABINET MEETING
28th & 29th OCTOBER 2017
The second Cabinet meeting was organized at
Vijayawada. The entire cabinet arrived at Haailand
resort and the cabinet meeting was held on 28th
October 2017, 6.30 pm. The cabinet meeting went on
very well and the cabinet officials have attended the
meeting and enjoyed their stay and scrumptious
food at the resort.
LC TIRUMANAGALAM - GAV
3rd NOVEMBER 2017
I was great pleasure when I had the opportunity to
visit a senior most club of our district LC
Thirumangalam at Hotel Raaj Park. This club is doing
excellent projects and thanks to the Past District
governor PMJF Lion N. R. Dave. The club gave me a
wonderful Zone Chairperson MJF Lion Rajesh Dave, a
committed lion.
5th EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING
4th & 5th NOVEMBER 2017
The 5th Executive committee meeting of the district
was held at Nalaas Residency, Tiruvannamalai on
04th November 2017. The meeting was well attended
by the Executive committee members and various
points on the District happenings were discussed. The
International Director Endorsee Lion R. Sampath and
the Past District Governor Lion N. R. Dhanapalan have
attended the meeting and gave valuable
suggestions. The lions from Lions Club Deepam have
extended their co-operation in organizing the
meeting. Thanks to Lion Siva and his team.
SECOND FOUNDATION MEETING
6th NOVEMBER 2017
The second Foundation meeting of the year was
carried out at Hotel Clarion at 7 pm. The Foundation
chairperson, vice chairpersons and other officials
were attended the meeting.
LC SPR - GAV - 08th NOVEMBER 2017
I was very happy in the Annual visit of Lions Club SPR at
Hotel Abu Sarovar on 08.11.17. The club headed by
Lion R. Balaji doing extremely well in the
administration and activities. I express my heartfull
thanks to the entire lion fraternities of the club for their
overwhelming response to the district programs and
activities.

10th NOVEMBER 2017
The club has conducted the Governor's annual visit
program at Lions Central Office, Nungambakkam on
10th Nov. 2017. The club officials have participated
and gave their valuable cooperation to the DG
Team.
L.C. METRO WEST - GAV
11th NOVEMBER 2017
I was very happy to visit one of the vibrant club of our
district. The program held at Hotel President. I was
very much impressed by their administration and
activities. The way they prepared the scrap book was
amazing. The guidance given by the Past District
Governor PMJF Lion S. P. Bhaskaran is always in the
books of the club. I extend my gratitude to all the
members of the club. The cooperation widened by
the District Chairperson, Convention MJF Lion S.P.
Bhagyalakshmi is highly appreciated by all the lions of
District 324 A5.
L.C. CHENNAI CROWN - GAV - 12th NOVEMBER 2017
on 12th November 2017 I made my annual visit to one
of the finest club of our district. LC Chennai crown, a
club which has set high standards in Administration
and Time management. The Cabinet Treasurer from
this club MJF Lion A Prabhakaran is giving handful
support to me and the entire operations of the district.
DIABETIC AWARENESS CAMP
15th NOVEMBER 2017
Lions club of Sruthi conducted a Diabetic awareness
camp at Ramakrishna Mission school at T. Nagar and
there by joined the International President's Guinness
record goal. Past District Governor Lion Dr. V.
Annamalai has delivered a diabetic awareness
speech and more than 100 teachers of the school are
FLOOD RELIEF PROJECT
15th NOVEMBER 2017
The district has received a grant of USD 5000 from the
Lions Clubs International Foundation by the great
effort taken by The International Director Endorsee
PMJF Lion R. Sampath and the immediate past district
Governor and Multiple council vice chairperson PMJF
Lion Dr. C. C. Johnny as a interim relief for the recent
Flood in Chennai city. The district Governor has
organized a flood relief material distribution project
at PRCC Hall, T. Nagar, Chennai on 15th November
2017 and gave away a pack of 10 types of necessary
products to more than 500 effected people. More
than 15 clubs have participated and contributed
Rs.10000/- each in addition to the grant.

DOMESTIC PICNIC
16th TO 20th NOVEMBER 2017
The district organized a Domestic picnic under the
chairmanship of Lion Shanmugam, DC Domestic
Picnic. More than 100 lions participated in the 4 nights
and 5 days package of Andaman and enjoyed the
hospitality of the well designed tour.
GMT & GLT CONCLAVE – 26th NOVEMBER 2017
26.11.17 – The GMT & GLT Conclave was held at Hotel
Savera at 11 am. More than 130 lions were
participated in the meeting. The District Governor
and his team along with the Guest of Honour Past
International Director Lion N. S. Sankar and Guests
speaker Rotarian Isaac were graced the event. The
event was well organized by the First Vice District
Governor Lion E. Ravichandran and Second Vice
District Governor Lion B. Sathyanarayanamurthy.
L.C. MYLAI ABHILASHA - GAV - 26th NOVEMBER 2017
I had the opportunity of visiting Lions Club Mylai
Abhilasha on 26th November 2017 at Hotel Pratap
Plaza. The DG Team, Cabinet secretary, Cabinet
Treasurer and Zone Chairperson have participated in
the program. Thanks to Lion D. Vasantha
Ravichandran and her team for their outstanding
support extended to the district.
SIMCCO AND JOINT MULTIPLE COUNCIL MEETING
28th & 29th NOVEMBER 2017
28.11.17 & 29.11.17 – The district 324A5 hosted the
SIMCCO & Joint Multiple council meeting held at The
residency Towers. The leaders from MD 316, 317, 318,
320 & 324 were participated in the meet.
L.C. SRUTHI - GAV - 1st DECEMBER 2017
I had a very good opportunity to visit one of the three
all lion ladies club of our district, Lions club Chennai
Sruthi at Oyo Town House, T Nagar. A club always for
service projects. The way they do the administration
and activities are commendable. I extend my sincere
gratefulness to PMJF Lion Subhalakshmi Viswanath, a
perfect Lion and dedicated her life for the
movement, as a Region Chairperson of the Ocean
team.
L.C. AGS GARDEN - GAV - 2nd DECEMBER 2017
The Governor's Annual visit of LC AGS Garden has
been arranged at Hotel Quality Inn Sabari, on 02nd
December 2017. The DG Team, Cabinet secretary,
Cabinet Treasurer, Region Chairperson and Zone
Chairperson have participated in the program.

L.C. ROYAPURAM HERITAGE - GAV
3rd DECEMBER 2017
I made my annual visit to Lions Club Royapuram
Heritage on 03rd December at Hotel Quality Inn
Sabari. I have praised the entire club members led by
Lion L. Parameswaran for their continuous support to
the District at all levels along with the senior leaders
Lion T. Ramachandran and Lion C. Balakrishnan. I am
also very happy to have a very efficient Zone
chairperson Lion P. Jeyaraj in the Ocean team from
this club.
L.C. BASIN BRIDGE - GAV - 3rd DECEMBER 2017
I was very happy in the Annual visit of Lions Club Basin
Bridge at Hotel Quality Inn Sabari. The club headed
by Lion Kamlesh Kankaria doing extremely well in the
administration and activities. I express my heart full
thanks to the entire lion fraternities of the club for
their overwhelming response to the district programs

On 05th December 2017 I made my annual visit to
one of the finest club of our district. LC Ashoknagar, a
club which has set high standards in Administration
and Time management. The Zone chairperson from
this club Lion T. P. Kathiravan is giving handful support
to the District Governor and the entire operations of
the district. All the senior lion leaders from this club
prop up the district at all times.

The 6th Executive committee meeting of the district
was held at Hotel Karaikudi, Chennai on 09th
December 2017. The meeting was well attended by
the Executive committee members and various
points on the District activities were discussed.

The club has conducted the Governor's annual visit
program at Quality Inn Sabari on 10th Dec 2017. The
club officials have participated and gave their
valuable cooperation to the DG Team.
CHRISTMAS DAY CELEBRATIONS,
LIONS CLUB MADRAS CITY – 12th DEC 2017
Lions club Madras city celebrated the Christmas Day
at CSI Good Shepherd Church, Cathedral Road.
District Governor was the chief Guest and Mr.
Padamasingh Isaac, Founder and Chairman of
Aachi Group of companies was the guest of honour
of the function. Presbyters and Bishops of various
Churches in the city were participated and delivered
Christmas messages. The club has conducted various
projects worth about Rs.10.00 lacs and the total
beneficiaries were around 2800. The DG Team was
also attended the function along with the District
Governor.

I had a very good opportunity to visit one of the best
club of our district, Lions club Madras
Meenambakkam at Deccan Plaza. A club always for
service projects and compete for Grand Prix award
of the district. The way they do the administration and
activities are commendable. I extend my sincere
gratefulness to PMJF Lion Dinesh Kumar, a perfect
Lion and dedicated his life for the movement, and
the only Second Century Ambassador of our district.

The Governor's Annual visit of LC Pudumai Gemini has
been arranged at Quality Inn Sabari on 24th
December 2017. The DG Team, Cabinet secretary,

Chairperson have participated in the program.

REGION MEET – YAMUNA REGION
MJF LION B. VIJAYAKUMAR – 25th DEC 2017
The first Region meet of the Lions Year, Yamuna
Region meet was held at Hotel GRT Grand on 25th
December 2017, 6.30pm. More than 300 lion
members and their families were participated in the
well categorized meet by the Region Chairperson
MJF Lion B. Vijayakumar. The District Governor MJF
Lion VR. Shanmugasundaram was the chief guest of
the evening. The International Director
PMJF Lion K. Dhanapalan was the guest of honour
and delivered thematic address on “Sevayil
magilnthiru” topic. The International Director
Endorsee PMJF Lion R. Sampath, Past District
Governor PMJF Lion Dr N. R. Dhanapalan, the first
Vice District Governor MJF Lion E. Ravichandran and
the second Vice District Governor PMJF Lion B.
Sathyanarayanamurthy, felicitated the Region
Chairperson, the Zone chairpersons Lion Saravanan
and MJF Lion A V N. Balraj and their team.

L.C. NANDAVANAM - GAV - 27th DECEMBER 2017
LC Nandavanam, another all lion ladies club of the
district, has conducted the Governor's annual visit
program at Lions Central Office, Nungambakkam on
27th Dec. 2017. The club officials have participated
and gave their valuable cooperation to the DG
Team.
DISTRICT NEW YEAR AND HALF YEARLY
AWARD FUNCTION – 30th DECEMBER 2017
One of the best ever New year eve celebration was
arranged by the District Chairperson new year Eve
PMJF Lion P. N. Ravi on 30th December 2017, 7.00 pm
at Hotel Savera. The colourful entertainments like Fire
Dance, Fashion Show, Selfi Instant Phot etc., were
witnessed and enjoyed to the core by the Past District
Governors and around 320 lions and their families. The
District Chairperson Awards MJF Lion A. G. Ravindran
and the co chairperson Awards Lion Arun Justin have
evaluated and honoured the half yearly awards to
the Best President, Secretary, Treasurer, Lion and Club
of all the six regions from the hands of District
Governor, Immediate Past District Governor and the
Multiple Council Vice Chairman PMJF Lion Dr. C. C.
Johnny, International Director Endorsee PMJF Liion R.
Sampath, First and second Vice District Governors in
the presence of the respective Region and Zone
Chairpersons. The District Governor has thanked and
honoured, the District Chairperson New Year Eve,
PMJF Lion P. N. Ravi.
The program officially inaugurated by the District
Governor on 05th January 2018, 9.30 am. along with
the Second Vice District Governor and the Cabinet
Secretary. The program was attended by 32 teachers
from 6 schools. Thanks to PMJF Lion V. M. Vijayakumar
and Lion P. Jeyaraj, Zone chairperson for their
admirable synchronization in shaping the program.
District Governor and his team attended the
valedictory function on 07th January 2018 and gave
away the Certificates to all the inmates. The efforts
taken by the District Chairperson is highly
appreciated.
SPORTS FOR SPECIAL CHILDREN
5th JANUARY 2018
The sport for special children was well conducted by
Lion G. S. Balaji, DC Special Children care, Lion M. P.
Sundarraj DC, Labour Welfare and Lion E. Dilli Babu,
DC Child welfare at Madras University Grounds on
05th January 2018, 10.30 am. The District Governor
MJF Lion VR. Shanmuga Sundaram, the Chief Guest,
addressed the gathering and thanked the District
Chairpersons. Dr. V. Mahadevan, Director of Physical
Education, University of madras was the Guest of
Honour and distributed the prizes. Immediate Past
District Governor and the Multiple Council Vice
Chairman PMJF Lion Dr. C. C. Johnny, International
Director Endorsee PMJF Lion R. Sampath, Past District
Governor PMJF Lion Dr. N. R. Dhanapalan, First and
second Vice District Governors and the Cabinet
secretary graced the occasion.

REGION MEET – GANGA REGION
PMJF LION SUBHALAKSHMI VISWANATH
6th JANUARY 2018.
The second Region meet of the year, Ganga Region,
has been systematically conducted at E Hotel on 06th
January 6.30pm, by the Region Chairperson PMJF Lion
Subhalakshmi viswanath and her team along with the
two Zone chairpersons Lion Rajesh Dave and Lion
Parthiban. The District Governor
MJF Lioin VR. Shanmuga Sundaram was the Chief
Guest and Mr Viswanath Venkatesh was the Guest of
honour and delivered thematic address. The
Celebrities Kalaimamani Dr. Narmadha (Violin),
Acharya Choodamani Mrs. Anitha Guha (Creative
Director Bharathanjali), Subha Vani (Silabam Rani) and
P. Sudha (Founder Transgender Initiative) were
honoured by the Region Chairperson. The meet was
well attended by many lions and their families from the

DISTRICT PONGAL VIZHA – 07th JANUARY 2018.
The District Pongal Vizha, Tamilar Thirunal, was well
conducted by the District Chairperson MJF Lion G.
Marisamy on 7th January 2018, 10 am. at Sathyalok
garden, Porur. More than 300 lions from our district
along with their families have attended the event full
festival. Nathaswaram, Pattu Mandram, Tharai,
Thappattai, Karakattam, Uriadithal, Manpaanai
Seithal, Kili Joshyam etc. were the highlights of the
cultural festival. The District Governor and his team
graced the celebrations. The participants enjoyed
the delicious veg and non- veg food arranged by the
District Chairman and his committee.

The Governor's Annual visit of LC Gandhi Avenue
Purasai has been arranged at Quality Inn Sabari on
10th January 2018. The District Governor and his team
have participated in the program. Thanks to Lion
Dhivakaran and his team for their outstanding
support extended to the district.
Dear lions, I am really happy that our district is on the
right track and going in a strong in all spheres. My only
concern is membership growth which remains always
a grey area. At this juncture I would like to
complement each and every club which has
participated in the GMT/GLT conclave. My special
complements to Lions Club Annanagar West, Lions
Club Pudumai Gemini and Lions Club Sruthi for
attaining the top three levels respectively, as for as
membership growth is concerned, in the Half yearly
awards.

Dear Lions,
Greetings and best wishes for a Happy and Prosperous
new year.
I honestly and enormously enjoyed all the events of the
district so far in the Lions year 2017-18. I cheer in your
association in all the district activities and extend my
gratitude for your passionate participation. I harmonize
the District chairpersons for all these programs for their
dedication, sincere work and admirable performance
and for enriching our experience this year.
I take this opportunity to express my regards for all the clubs
that have been doing excellent service projects at the
club as well as district levels.
We put ourselves on our shoulders for our achievement in
various spheres. At the same time we have to give
attention to another important subject that our District
Governor has made it copiously clear that his eyes are
always on a single achievement, namely Membership
growth.
Membership growth always has multiple benefits. We can
take our district to very active and energetic. We will have
more choice of Lions to lead the clubs which results a
dynamic output at all level of operations. District
proceedings will be grand and will have definitely more
hands to serve the needy. With the membership growth
no doubt our district will scale great heights.
I congratulate GMT Coordinator Lion Thanikachalam and
GLT Coordinator MJF Lion Ahmed Mohideen for their
sincere effort in motivating clubs to improve membership
growth in the GMT/GLT conclave held at Hotel Savera on
26th November 2017.
I also complement all the clubs for the good work that they
have been doing and for responding to the call of our
District Governor.

Dear Lions,
Greetings and best wishes.
It is very heartening to note that most of the clubs are
doing very well in their administration and activities.
The club officers are fully motivated to achieve their
goals.
All the district programs are well attended by all the
clubs and my special complements to all the District
Chairperson for their astounding efforts in full filling
their commitments in their respective portfolios.
The GMT and GLT coordinators are giving their best
effort to motivate the clubs to achieve excellence in
Leadership and membership.
I extend my special gratitude to all the club officials for
their prop up in uploading the statutory reports in
MyLCI every month.
My sincere thanks to 25 clubs who have completed
their Governor’s Annual visit and 5 more clubs have
fixed their dates. I request the clubs those who have
not fixed their GAV dates please secure as early as
possible, preferably before 31st January, since in
January and February the focus will be on Region
Meets and Zone socials.
I take this opportunity to invite all the cabinet officials
for our Third Cabinet meeting to be held at Karaikudi
on 20th January 2018.
I would like to congratulate all the Zone Chairpersons
who have successfully completed their second Zone
Advisory meetings.
Before closing this column, I would like to place on
record my deep sense of admiration to all the lions for
extending full cooperation an d I assure them that I will
give my best for the rest of the year.

Dear Club Treasurers,
Greetings.
I wish to convey my heartiest thanks to the clubs paid their
International either in full year or half year, multiple and
district dues before October 2017. I request the club those
who have not paid their International dues either part or full,
pay immediately and avoid automatic suspension.
Some clubs have paid only the international dues. I request
these clubs to pay their multiple and district dues
immediately to help the district to meet the administrative
expenses.
I appeal to the club official to send the periodical reports and
submit the quarterly accounts to the district after approval
from the board.
I take this opportunity to request the cabinet officials to pay
their cabinet subscription, if not paid already, without further
delay as we are already in the second part of the Lions year.
I thank the Region, Zone and District Chairperson who have
paid their Directory Advertisement dues. In case of any
pending dues please pay it instantly since the District
Directory is released and in circulation.
