Purpose Games
Teachers, Parents, Students
Vet Med, Advanced Animal Science, Livestock Production (9-12)
David Andersson
Overview:
Purpose Games, written by David Andersson was published in 2008-current. This site is filled
with fun game activities that boast a variety of game formats across different subjects in need of
review or learning, such as language, history, math, anatomy etc. Goals for this site are to help
break the eye to paper study- to make it more fun with interaction. The main publisher moderates
material through their “terms of creation” link, and people are the ones that “update” what
content is published, as it is the users who make games and share to the public. There is also a
link in case you need to contact the site creator about any misuse or issues on the game site. The
best part about Purpose Games, it is easy to navigate. The only downfall is “you see what you
get” – meaning not all game information is correct, but that is backed up by the convenience of
being able to create your own games.
Purpose games, is a one-stop game site that I use for my students during their self-practice. This
site is absolutely free to the public, all age brain-teaching friendly(k-12, and even college), and
has a wide variety of ways you can create learning games- All the students need to do is use their
given school email to sign up. A few examples of activities are picture match, quizzes, word
match, and it even hosts tournaments for those students that are competitive. The best part is, it
can be played interactively amongst their class in a group the teacher creates, and it seems to
help the students that prefer technology when learning new material.

Education World

Education World
http://www.educationworld.com
Overview:
Education world, published in 1996-current, is the “one-stop shop” for teachers of all grade
levels pre-12. The site has 11 columnists that contribute to the information on this content
packed website, and they are all teacher oriented. All columnists have an “about me” including
their findings and contributions to education. The main goal/ purpose of this site-to give teachers
and administrators a place where they can have all the tech tips and class information available.
This site seems to be “with the times” as much as it mentions technology and how it is used in
the classroom.
There are help tips that range from lesson planning, STEM activities, problem solving archives,
study material, classroom management and much more. I don’t think teachers could ask for a
better resource. The best part—it is completely free!

Edu Gamer

Vet Med, Advanced Animal, Livestock Production (9-12)
Unknown
Overview:
Out of all the game websites I found, this specific site hits home. They have an interactive
livestock judging placer that simulates a real FFA CDE(career development) setting with official
scores, and those unless you have a variety of animals and/or time to put slides together, is a life
saver. Edu Gamer page is smooth-looking and easy to navigate, it is all age friendly, and is
perfect for students that require mind stimulation through activities with any type of technology.
The mission of Edu Gamer is “to promote the use and accessibility of e-learning worldwide”
providing students with created content-rich, and engaging games.
Their platforms reach to PC, Mac, and Linux, and is free to the public. However, in order for you
to create games it requires an e-mail to create a log-in- but visitors are still allowed to play the
pre-made games. They even have a Face Book page where people can like to follow and contact
the site.

PEER Agriculture

Vet Med, Advanced Animal, Livestock Production (9-12)
Texas A&M Life Sciences
http://peer.tamu.edu
Overview:
PEER-Partnership for Environmental Education and Rural Health was published in 2000. There
was no named author except TAMU being a major contributor to this site’s information and
links. When you navigate through the links there is a contact list that has 5 different contacts plus
the site physical address to contact. If you need to report any technical issues, you have to go
through the separate webmaster. The goal of this site is to educate the rural school population of
agricultural subjects abroad. This site is geared more toward teachers—not really for student
reference unless needed. There are no games, but lesson plans that can help the teacher along that
include games. This site, from what I have worked with and seen is every bit credible.
I use PEER regularly for my lessons and enjoy the convenience of being able to down load the
PDF files. I just wish that all the topics had an individual folder for all the worksheets, power
points etc per unit, because when I am in a hurry, it is extremely easy to click on the wrong item
because almost everything runs together. I think overall the site is a wonderful tool for what you
need to teach as far as an animal class is concerned, but it lacks eye appeal. Every category is
orderly, just not how I would like to view them—color coding would be beneficial.
