ISTE Framework Assignment

With my choice of teaching 9-12 (ages 14-18), I recognized many strengths of mine

being the standards of teaching this grade highlighting the top ones of communication and

creativity. Given in my field of study, being Health and Physical Education that it is one of the

slower fields to integrate more and more technology into the education of Health and Physical

Education. The top ISTE Standards that first popped out to me as my strengths were: creativity

and innovation, communication and collaboration, research and information fluency, critical

thinking, problem solving and decision making. These being my core strengths due to the

education and lessons over my lifetime I have learned.

With it being more technologically inclined through all ages, my biggest weakness was

listed as: digital citizenship, and technology operations and concepts. Noticing my weakness in

these areas I have already began to take the steps to preparing myself to become much more

educated in these fields. With the age of technology, we live in, a teacher would be irrelevant if

they didn’t have the proper understanding of technology and how to use it to their advantage.

Students now thrive off the teacher’s ability to manipulate technology to express their certain

teaching strategies. Without technology it will be a much harder task to gain the attention of

students, let alone maintain their attention through the respective class time frame.

I hope to learn from this course how to use technology to my advantage in the classroom

or on the court I hope to coach. The main objective of mine is to be able to take the two

standards I struggle with the most and be able to mix them with my strengths, so that someday I

can give my future students the education that they deserve to have.
