for FF
• LAS capable (yes/no)
• Minimum Operating Voltage (Vdc)
• Quiescent Current Draw (mA)
• Polarity Sensitive Termination (yes/no)
• DD revision level
• Channel number and Description,
(e.g., Channel 1 - Sensor 1, Channel 2 - Body
Temperature, Channel 3 - Sensor 2, etc.).
• Function Blocks Available, (e.g., AI_1, AI_2,
PID_1, etc.)

9
Saudi Aramco’s FF Concerns & Wish
List
 Aramco’s Biggest FF Problems:
1. Investigating Plug-In and Snap-On Software
2. Reliability of Diagnostic Alerts
3. Contractor knowledge of Commissioning FF
Devices
4. Lack of True OpEx Saving Experience

10
Conclusion
• FF technology is the way to go.
• It would be a complete failure if FF-SIF
diagnostic alerts are not reliable.
• Can the black channel technology be
implemented for control instruments?
