Unit 53: LO4 Response

Name: Matthew Pickett

In this assignment I am going to analyse the overall success and sustainability of the creation of
my radio station Unifyed FM, in this analysis I am going to the discus and break down the
individual points I have received from the Feedback and how they would impact the overall
outlook and the sustainability of the radio’s production success.

Firstly, in review of Title, synopsis, running time, originality of idea, I referenced to my station as:

“Aimed towards both college and University Students, and it intends to educate, entertain and
inform students via a broad range of segments from music, revision tips, expert advice, and
interviews with people from a range of different educational sectors who have made a
tremendous success in their given area.”

In the feedback I was given my mentor outlined the overall progression and success of the
creativity of my idea.

“The title and logo of your show was introduced perfectly during your pitch before you then
explained the reason behind this title and how it represented your radio broadcast. Creating a
broadcast which not only entertains but also informs and educates is an intriguing idea “

To break down I elaborated on the point of influence for the radio being an educational based
station, inferring UNI being (United/United Kingdom) FYED being a use of colloquial language
this identified to the audience I was targeting as the language type would be stereotypical to
language used by this demographic.

They also commend the topic of concept I included within my broadcast as being “informs and
educates” this relays my outer meaning and displays that my audience has identified the outer
meaning of the station and its purpose that I wanted the audience to take involvement with.

In a summary of improvement that was outlined in the feedback

“Intriguing idea and one you should explore further when analysing how to achieve this in a
regular broadcast.”

In this they have asked or proposed or asked how I plan on sustain the education informative a
distinctive mix of content, to elaborate on how I intend on keeping this relevant to my audience, I
would intend to extend in my proposal that when the show is more progressive and has higher
demands I would expect to the content that is involved or that would be influenced to be in the
radio station, I would base of social media sites e.g (Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
these cover all major streamers that I would expect my demographic to be using this would then
help me to identify how to keep my radio show educational purposeful. I would also display this
information to show this is the is the basis of sustainability displayed in my pitch.

Secondly, in review Budget summary feasibility, budget based on professional rates,

In my pitch I displayed the the information as follows:

“ In terms of budgeting and Pricing the listed Prices are the most critical to ensuring that all
elements during production are covered for:
● Microphone: £26.50 (Ownership)
● Sound Adjustment System: £149.99 (Ownership)
● Tripods X2: £39.98 (Ownership)
● Sound Recorder/Studio Personnel (£1,290/week)
● Rider Pass (£15-23)
● Hotel/Accommodation (£37/Per Night)
● Food/Refreshments (£5-10)

The Total Price £1,567.47”

In feedback review from my peer group, one stated in their response,

“Although you have completed in-depth research into the cost of equipment and recording
studios, you have failed to take into account the cost of licensing and promotion. In addition you
needed to discuss how you intended to raise money to cover these costs through advertising
and funding.”

To elaborate on the points made in the statement, the peer describes my budget as having “
in-depth research into the cost of equipment and recording studios”, this approves that I have
identified accurate and sustainable money saving methods for this potential feasibility for a first
time radio production,

However, the statement it the appeals that:

“ You have failed to take into account the cost of licensing and promotion. In addition you
needed to discuss how you intended to raise money to cover these costs through advertising
and funding.”

To expand on this point, the ways I would intend on generating sponsors is through the
University’s Union through local uni’s such a Grimsby Institute, BGU, and Lincoln University, I
would then expect them through funding and through outer retailing to spread the retail value of
the station, with Uni funding I would intend on using this to help me progress to a bigger and
poetitonal bigger consumer advocate. I would also add these forms to the pitch and how this
would primarily change the overall sustainability of cost that the radio station will incur.

Thirdly, I am going to review my Dates, timings, activities, location, personnel, resources,

contingency plans etc.

In my feedback, they reflected on the these point’s,

“You have carefully selected an appropriate launch date and explained what work will be
completed before this to show that this is feasible. You have also included an in-depth
contingency plan which would ease my worries if there was technical issue or a fault with
equipment.”

To review the points made within this statement, the peer commends the information I have
detailed within my Pre-Production “ You have carefully selected an appropriate launch date and
explained what work will be completed before this to show that this is feasible” this displays that
I have accurately drawn a date that influence more consumers to take involvement with this
production.

Though to improve the the overall success, the locational basis I would not intend to be a basis
in the Lincolnshire District as this is not the most feasible to area to launch and get the need
consumer to draw attention to the station poetitonal idealistic creativity.

I would address the problem within my proposal and pitch, the way in which I would address this
problem is to analyse districts across the United Kingdom within the ages of 16-32, this would
allow me to base and introduce the station and influence the content I would intend to enclose in
the production.

Fourth, in review of the Profile of leading cast and their unique selling point, my peer group
stated in their comment:

“Despite stating who would appear on your show you need to go into more detail about what
they would offer to the broadcast and how they would help attract listeners. “

To review the statement made by my peer, they have asked about the feasibility of the guest
stars selling points, suggesting “ you need to go into more detail about what they would offer to
the broadcast and how they would help attract listeners”

The way in which my guest presenters differ to the original concepts of other radio shows my
guest’s have each covered different elements and each have an individual personality that
makes identifiable to the audience using Maj (Maciej Maksymow) he identified to a younger
male and spontaneous male audience which makes his point more unique, Chole voice helps to
guide and is higher and the female presenter is also rare to be included in major radio
broadcaster for Uni’s. Each of my presenter each reflect part of the demographic which is also
more identifiable to the audience, so this differs to the consumers already existing in the
mainstream media.

Fifth, in review of Profile and size of intended target audience and the programme’s appeal to
them, my consumer reviewed the intentions and responded stating:

“You have examined the demographics of radio broadcast and analysed how you will target
students to be your initial listeners. However you need to focus more on how intend to maintain
these listeners whilst attracting news ones. In addition you need to conduct more research into
secondary and tertiary audiences.”

To examine the points made in the analysis, the consumer commends my examination of how
my audience is my focus summarizing “ the demographics of radio broadcast and analysed how
you will target students to be your initial listeners.”

However they reference:

“You need to focus more on how intend to maintain these listeners whilst attracting news ones.
In addition you need to conduct more research into secondary and tertiary audiences.”

To what the point would influence me to do while adjusting the work, and my pitch firstly to
address the issue of maintaining the audience “intend to maintain these listeners” as addressed
in my previous paragraph,

“ I would expect to the content that is involved or that would be influenced to be in the radio
station, I would base of social media sites e.g (Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) these
cover all major streamers that I would expect my demographic to be using this would then help
me to identify how to keep my radio show educational purposeful.”

The keeps my original (Primary Audience) attracted to the show, to expand or as referenced in
the feedback

“In addition you need to conduct more research into secondary and tertiary audiences”

To amend this point, I would conduct research into both audience within the above and below
my target demographic from the information I would gather from this research I would amend or
compensate the materials so that these fill the outlined interest, topics, and relevant educational
resources required by the secondary audiences, to the further extend my audeine I would talk to
industry experts, who have analysis of what groups of young peers have issues with context of
educational resources, also I would ask teachers who work within the workplace this would
allow for me to create a tertiary audiences who could help influence my content for future
production purposes.

Finally, to review Talk/music/sound effects/dialogue/interviews etc. and how these were used
effectively through my production and in the context of influence of the production.

My consumer stated:

“Your sample audio materials were extremely effective as you elaborated and discussed each
one in detail. You also demonstrated knowledge on how radio elements such as call-ins and
competitions you can not only demonstrate how radio broadcasts can include public
participation but also how it can attract new listeners who wish to voice their opinion.”

To expand upon the points outlined in their statement, they have commended my understanding
of on how radio elements such as call-ins and competitions you can not only demonstrate how
radio broadcasts can include public participation but also how it can attract new listeners who
wish to voice their opinion.”

In addition to this point I would outline the content that the consumer has outlined I would adjust
in each show, mixing the dynamic of the production, so if the production was done again taking
into the considerations that I have referenced within this analysis I would utilize these to
influence my points of influence that would guide the format and content of the station, so I
would command this point in the pitch to reflect my further idea’s (aspirations) to progress the
station.

To conclude the analysis of my work the point’s I have referenced through the essay are
reflective of my interpretation of what I would have hoped to further achieved within this module
given the constraints that withheld the prospect of a meaningful and powerful creation given the
right circumstances, to summarize the point of sustainability and overall success of my radio
station.

I would say with the adjustments I have referenced within the essay would have a better
chance to influence major consumers into buying into the product I have created. So overall I
feel that the sustainability and overall success is well prospected with elements so far but, can
be varnished to create an overall stronger product for both consumers and tertiary audiences.
