HOT FUZZ PITCH

Synopsis:

When PC Nicolas Angel, the finest police officer on the streets of London, is forcibly promoted to
Sergeant in the seemingly sleepy Somerset town of Sandford, he is hated by his peers as his serious,
direct approach and dedication to the rulebook put him at odds with the more relaxed natures of the
other officers. However, when a string of suspiciously “accidental” murders happen around the
village, he is forced to find his place and motivation within the community and employ his finest
detective skills to crack the case, accompanied by Danny Butterman, an action movie obsessed
policeman (and son of the Chief) who is woefully inept at his job but knows everything about the
community and its inhabitants... or so he thinks...

Reasons why this could be a fantastic musical:

• Initially simplisticyet stylised narrative masterfully subverted through the final twist
• A love story... about friendship
• Three-dimensional hilarious characters; lead supporting and featured
• Strong engine and motivations for its two leads characters as they attempt to solve the crime,
and make a difference
• Plenty of iconic moments able to be enhanced by music and lyrics
• Several opportunities for motifs and musical callbacks
• Opportunities for songs ranging from the grounded (Angel's mournful I Want song as he
moves to the country, Sandford town anthem) to the ridiculous (Japanese peace lily solo,
recurring 80s action theme)
