Primer
1. PRODUCT Fast drying, lead- and chromate - free 2-pack epoxy corrosion-
DESCRIPTION protection primer according to GRD M 40216/ M 40217. The dry films
have high mechanical and chemical resistance and excellent adhesion
and protection properties.

1.1 Field of application Metal industry, vehicles, machines, and apparatuses for military sector.
Suitable for interior and exterior exposition.

2. SPECIFICATION Viscosity at delivery DIN 4/ 30-40 sec.


Mixing ratio 5:1 by weight
3:1 by volume
Pot-life (20°C) 24 hours
Minimum temperature for application and drying + 10°C
Maximum humidity for application and drying 80 % rel.hum.
Dry content (mixture) approx. 60 %
Density (20°C)(mixture) approx. 1.3 kg/l
Consumption at a dry film thickness of 40 microns
per m2 (without spray-losses) approx. 130 g
Drying conditions for 40 microns dry film:
- dust free after 5 min.
- touch dry after 3 hours
- recoat able after 4 hours
- Chemical resistant after 7 days
Storability in sealed unopened containers (20°C) 12 months
Flash point > 21°C
VOC by weight approx 20 %

3. APPLICATION Pneumatic, airless or electrostatic spraying, small areas might be brushed or


rolled.

3.1 Thinning and spray Spray viscosity is achieved by thinning with 10-20% thinner to DIN 4 mm 20-
data 24 sec. at 20°C.

Pneumatic spraying 1.5 - 1.8 mm 2.5 - 3 bars
Airless spraying 0.3 - 0.5 mm 80 - 150 bars

3.2 Notice During the first 48 hours of the drying time, air and object temperature must
not fall below + 10°C.

3.3 Precaution The regulations of the Health and Safety at Work Act are to be observed.

3.4 Cleaning of equipment Immediately after work with one of the thinners or with cleaner 990.0.0.0075.

4. APPLICATION The following recommendations are guidelines and examples. Individual


ADVICE Procedures might differ.

4.1 Substrates - Steel

4.2 Pretreatment The surfaces shall be free from dust, dirt, corrosion products, oil, fat and
alikes. Depending on the substrate and demanded performance, either
mechanical (blasting, brushing) or chemical (chromatation, phosphatation)
pretreatment is adviced.

4.3 Suitable top coats For military use:


- NUVOVERN ACR enamel semi-flat yellow olive
RAL6014 GRD M 40218

For non - military use:


- All ETOKAT enamels and mica paint
- All NUVOVERN enamels and mica paint
- NUVOVERN NP hammer tone

5. RESISTANCE 2-pack Epoxy primer chromate free exceeding60 microns dry film resists
PROPERTIES mineral oils up to 150°C.
