Job Summary
The nursing service aids in the promotion and restoration of patients' health by
utilizing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team

Job Description

1. Assess/ Examine patients and take their medical histories and consult with
physicians and other medical practitioners to identify appropriate nursing
interventions and to evaluate patients' physical (and mental) health.

2. Monitor, assess, address, document and report symptoms and changes in patients'
conditions.
3. Monitor patients' progress, evaluate and document effectiveness of nursing
interventions and collaborate with appropriate members of health care team.
4. Perform nursing interventions such as taking vital signs, applying aseptic
techniques including sterile dressing, ensuring infection control, monitoring
nutritional intake and conducting specimen collection.
5. Provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to patients based on
patient assessment and care planning procedures.
6. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician or according to
established policies and protocols; observe and document therapeutic effects.
7. Monitor established respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy.
8. Operate or monitor medical apparatus or equipment.
9. Provide peri-operative personal and comfort care.
10. Assist in surgery and other special medical procedures.
11. Inoculate and vaccinate patients.
12. Supervise nursing staff, nursing assistants, and midwives.
13. Provide education on health care including health promotion, disease, illness and
accident prevention.
14. Teach and counsel patients and their families on health-related issues in
collaboration with other health care providers.
15. Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families.
16. Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary health team such as family
physicians, therapists and nutritionists to plan, implement, co-ordinate and evaluate
patient care in consultation with patients and their families.
