1 Safety introduction

1.1 Safety statement

Read this manual before installing and using the ISCOM HT803G-W. Otherwise, it
may cause severe bodily injury. Raisecom will not be reliable for any losses caused
by any branch of security issues.

The ISCOM HT803G-W is an integrated device, containing precise components. To


prevent equipment damage caused by severe shock, avoid being crushed or
sprained. You are not allowed to replace or repair the ISCOM HT803G-W. If
necessary, you must follow Raisecom engineers' instructions.

1.2 Basic requirements


 Keep dry and avoid violent collision during storage, transportation, and usage.
 Follow the instructions to install the device.
 Forbid to open the chassis. Please contact Raisecom engineers when the device fails.
 Forbid any entities or individuals to modify the device structure, safety, and performance
design without authorization.
 Follow the related laws and regulations and respect the legitimate rights of others when
using the device.

1.3 Environmental requirements


 Place the device in a well-ventilated environment without direct sunlight.
 Keep the device clean and avoid dust pollution.
 Do not place the device near water or wet areas.
 Do not place any objects on the device so as to avoid overheating or extruding the
device.

 Leave 50 mm or more heat dissipation space around the device.


 Leave 100 mm or more heat dissipation space at the top of the device.
 Keep away from heat or naked flame sources when placing the device, such as heaters
and candles.
 Keep away from electrical appliances with strong magnetic or electric fields when
placing the device, such as microwave ovens, refrigerators, and mobile phones.
 Avoid storing the device in an environment with corrosive chemicals.

1.4 Electrical safety


 Use the product matching accessories, such as the power adapter and battery.
 The supply voltage and current must meet the input voltage and current requirements of
the device, and provide current overload protection.
 Do not connect the voice interface to an external PSTN line, so as not to damage the
device or cause other safety issues.
 Keep the power plug clean and dry in order to avoid electric shock or other hazards.
 Comply with the insulation operation safety requirements to plug and pull the device
cables, such as keeping your hands dry and using insulated tools.
 Stop using and power off the device before plugging and pulling the cables.
 In thunder and lightning environment, power off and pull out all cables connected to the
device, such as power cable, fiber, and cable, to avoid lightning strike damage.
 When not using the device for a long time, power off the device and pull out the power
cable.
 Avoid water or other liquids flowing into the device. If not, immediately power off and
pull out all cables connected to the device, such as power cable, fiber, and cable. Please
contact Raisecom engineers when the device fails.
 Do not tread, pull or excessively bend the cables so as to avoid device failure.
 Do not use damaged or aged cables.

1.5 Laser safety


 Only authorized personnel with related laser safety training can take operation.
 Do not bend the cable to a diameter less than 7.5 cm/3 inches in order not to damage the
fiber or impede normal transmission of the optical signals.
 Do not stare into the optical fiber interface on the device, so as not to damage the
eyesight.

1.6 Cleaning instructions


 Before cleaning, stop using the device and power off, pull out all cables connected to the
device, such as power cable, fiber, and cable. During the operation, please make sure that
the fiber connector is not contaminated.
 Use a soft cloth to wipe the device enclosure without cleaning fluids or aerosol cleaners.

1.7 Other instructions


 If there are any abnormal phenomena, such as smoke, sound, and smell, please
immediately stop using and power off the device, pull out all cables connected to the
device, such as power cable, fiber, and cable. Please contact Raisecom engineers when
the device fails.
 Prevent foreign objects (such as metal) into the device through the vents.
 Do not scratch or abrade the device enclosure; otherwise, the deciduous paint will cause
device malfunction (such as short circuit), or even human allergy.
 Do not allow children to play the devices and gadgets in order to avoid swallowing
danger.

1.8 Environmental protection


 Do not discard the abandoned device or batteries randomly, please bring to the
designated recycle bin.
 Comply with the local laws to deal with the relevant device packaging materials,
exhausted batteries and abandoned device, and support the recycle action.

2 Product overview

2.1 Overview
The ISCOM HT803G-W is a Residential Gateway Unit (RGU) with one Gigabit Passive
Optical Network (GPON) interface, four 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet interfaces, two FXS
voice interfaces, one Universal Serial Bus (USB) interface, and one WiFi. The ISCOM
HT803G-W adopts a small plastic cartridge casing, with an external power adaptor. The
power consumption of the ISCOM HT803G-W is smaller than 13.9 W.
The ISCOM HT803G-W is integrated with GPON Optical Network Unit (ONU), WLAN
Access Point (AP), Integrated Access Device (IAD), LAN Switch, and ROUTER. It can
provide users with integrated access service of data, voice, and video. Together with other
Optical Line Terminals (OLTs), the ISCOM HT803G-W can be used to establish a high-
bandwidth, low-cost FTTH or FTTP fiber access network to transmit multiple services.

2.2 Features
The ISCOM HT803G-W has the following features:
 Be integrated with GPON ONU, WLAN AP, IAD, LAN Switch, and ROUTER. It
provides users with diverse, personalized, secure, convenient, and high-efficient data,
voice, and video services.
 Support sophisticated fault management, configuration management, accounting
management, performance management and security management (FCAPS) functions
and integrate management, monitoring, and maintenance.
 Provide one ITU-T G.984.X GPON Class B+ optical interface used for fiber high-speed
access to meet the requirements of Fiber to the Home (FTTH), and provide enough
bandwidth for various emerging services, such as online games, Internet Protocol
Television (IPTV), Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), High-definition Television
(HDTV), and Video on Demand (VoD).
 Provide four 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet interfaces and provide services for multiple
users simultaneously.
 Provide IEEE 802.11 b/g/n WLAN wireless interface to enable users to get rid of the
shackle of cables, more convenient to use.
 Support WPS function and be more convenient for the wireless configuration.
 Provide two VoIP interfaces. The ISCOM HT803G-W is embedded with IAD to provide
voice and fax services.

 Provide one USB 2.0 Host interface used for home storage service.
 Support rich routing, network and Ethernet functions, including Dynamic Host
Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE),
Network Address Translation (NAT), Access Control List (ACL), Virtual Private
Network (VPN), Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), Universal Plug-n-Play (UPnP), Quality of
Service (QoS), and multicast.
 Provide a visual Web interface to facilitate the configuration and operation. Support
TR069 protocol with a comprehensive and delicate network management capability.
 Provide perfect firewall function and support MAC address or IP address based access
control (including LAN and WLAN), ensuring users' network security.
 Be cost-effective, high availability, and high reliability.
 Be green, complying with European Union (EU) Restriction of Hazardous Substances
(RoHS) and China RoHS.

5 Hardware installation and usage

Before installing the ISCOM HT803G-W, you must confirm the following matters:
 To ensure good air circulation, do not place objects on the top of the ISCOM HT803G-
W.
 Allow sufficient space away from adjacent devices during the installation.
 Do not place the ISCOM HT803G-W near heat source, high temperature or humid
environment.
 The ISCOM HT803G-W should work in a qualified environment. For detailed
environmental specifications, see section 2.3 Specifications.
 The ISCOM HT803G-W should use the original external power adaptor. For detailed
power requirements, see section 5.2.5 Connecting power supply.

5.1 Installation modes


The ISCOM HT803G-W can be placed on a stable workbench or on the wall.
Place the ISCOM HT803G-W horizontally according to the following steps:
Step 1 Place the device upside down on the horizontal workbench, clean the four grooves on the
bottom board with a soft dry cloth to make sure there is no dust and oil stain in the groove.
Step 2 Uncover the rubber-faced protective papers on the surface of four pads one by one, and attach
them respectively to the four round grooves in the four corners of the bottom board.
Step 3 Place the device upside, lift it stably and put it in the middle of the workbench smoothly and
slowly.
Install the ISCOM HT803G-W on the wall according to the following steps:
Step 1 Align the mounting stand vertically to the wall and make sure the mounting hole arrow up.
There are two mounting holes on the ISCOM HT803G-W: horizontal and vertical, as shown
in Figure 5-1 and Figure 5-2.

Step 2 Hammer 2 metal screws to the wall through the mounting holes of the stands and fix the
stands to the wall, as shown in Figure 5-3 and Figure 5-4.

Step 3 Twine the optical fiber into the fiber storage disk on the mounting stands.
– In horizontal installation, make sure that the optical fiber is come out from the left
bottom side.
– In vertical installation, make sure that the optical fiber is come out from the left upper
side.
Step 4 Slide the device into mounting stand from top to bottom. In horizontal installation, make sure
the panel with interface down.

5.2.2 Connecting Ethernet interface


Ethernet cables used by the ISCOM HT803G-W are divided into:
 Straight-through cable: both RJ45 connectors follow EIA/TIA 568B cabling standard.
 Crossover cable: one RJ45 connector follows the EIA/TIA 568B cabling standard and
the other RJ45 connector follows the EIA/TIA 568A cabling standard.
Figure 5-6 shows the line order of 10/100/1000 Mbit/s straight-through cable.

5.2.3 Connecting GPON interface


The GPON interface of the ISCOM HT803G-W is a SC/APC interface, please follow these
steps to connect GPON interface:
Step 1 Remove the plastic dust cover on SC/APC interface. Keep it and set aside.
Step 2 Clean the SC/APC connector of the fiber with anhydrous alcohol and then insert it into the
SC/APC interface.

 Cover the optical interfaces of the ISCOM HT803G-W with a dust cover to prevent
dusts or other contaminants from entering the optical interface. Otherwise, the
ISCOM HT803G-W may work improperly.

 The ISCOM HT803G-W is equipped with invisible laser. The laser may cause eye
injury. During installation, do not stare into the optical interfaces, connectors, or the
open fibers.

5.2.4 Connecting voice interface


In the four cores of the telephone line, only two cores are working. Table 5-2 lists the signal
description of telephone line.

5.2.5 Connecting power supply


The ISCOM HT803G-W adopts an external power adaptor to supply power:
 Input of the power adaptor: 100–240 VAC (50/60Hz)
 Output of the power adaptor: 12 VDC, and 1.5 A (maximum).
Please follow these steps to connect power supply:
Step 1 Insert the 12 VDC power connector into the power interface of the device.
Step 2 Insert the 100–240 VAC power connector into the AC power socket on the wall.

Please use the power adapter or replacement supplied by Raisecom. The other
power adapter may lead to device damage or other consequences.

5.3 Powering on the device


Step 1 After the ISCOM HT803G-W is properly installed, insert the power adaptor plug and power
on.
Step 2 Press the power ON/OFF button. If the PWR LED is in green, it means the ISCOM HT803G-
W is properly powered on.
Step 3 When all LEDs on the front panel are in green, it indicates the ISCOM HT803G-W is
conducting self-test and being initialized.
Step 4 After self-test and initialization, the ISCOM HT803G-W enters working status. LEDs of
Ethernet interfaces, GPON interface, FXS voice interface, USB interface and WiFi functions
will indicate the current working status (LEDs are in green, off, or blinking green/yellow/red).

5.4 Wireless connection


5.4.1 Wireless NIC supporting WPS
If the wireless NIC supports WPS and the PC is installed with Carrier's client, follow these
steps to connect the wireless network:
Step 1 Click the code-matching button of the PC and press the WPS button of the ISCOM HT803G-
W in 2 minutes, the PC will be added to the WLAN safely.
Step 2 After the operation is finished, if the Service Set Identifier (SSID) and the wireless access
password are not changed and the ISCOM HT803G-W works properly, the PC will be
automatically connected to the ISCOM HT803G-W when WLAN is enabled.

5.4.2 Wireless NIC without supporting WPS


If the wireless NIC does not support WPS, follow these steps to connect the wireless network:
Step 1 Power on the ISCOM HT803G-W and confirm whether the WiFi LED lights up.
Step 2 In general, a Wireless NIC icon is displayed at the system tray of the task bar of the Operation
System (OS) which is installed with the Wireless NIC. Double-click the icon and a window is
displayed.
Step 3 Select the wireless SSID of the ISCOM HT803G-W and click Connect (C). If it is the first
time for the wireless NIC connecting the ISCOM HT803G-W, you should enter the key. After
entering the correct key, the wireless NIC can be connected to the ISCOM HT803G-W.

Note
By default, the ISCOM HT803G-W Service Set Identifier (SSID) and wireless access
password are printed at the bottom of the device and tagged on the external packing.

5.5 Accessing the device


Before accessing the ISCOM HT803G-W, you must ensure the PC and the ISCOM HT803G-
W are connected properly.
Step 1 Configure the IP address of the PC, such as 192.168.1.X (X ranges from 2 to 254). Set the
subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 and set the gateway to 192.168.1.1.
Step 2 Ping the IP address of the ISCOM HT803G-W. (By default, the IP address is set to
192.168.1.1.) If the PC can ping through the IP address, it indicates the the PC and the
ISCOM HT803G-W is connected properly.
Step 3 Open the browser and enter "http://192.168.1.1" at the address bar, it will show the Web login
interface.
Step 4 Enter correct user name and password (tag at the bottom of the device) to login the ISCOM
HT803G-W.

6 FAQ

POWER LED is off


 Please check whether the Power On/Off button is pressed.
 Please check whether the power interface is connected properly, you can try to insert the
power interface again.
 Please check the power adaptor configured for the device.
 Please check whether the power supply and the power adaptor are properly connected.

LINK LED is off


 Please check whether the fiber of the GPON interface is properly inserted.
 Please check whether the other end of the fiber is properly connected to the user-side
interface.
 Please check whether the fiber connector is covered.
 Please check whether the device-side pigtail is bent or folded.
 Please contact the Carrier to confirm whether it is caused by the PON service in the
remote machine room or the Carrier link faults.

LINK LED is green but INTERNET LED is off


 Please check whether the dialing is not successful, that is the IP address is abnormal.
 The ISCOM HT803G-W may not receive the downlink optical signal from the Carrier.
 Please contact the local Carrier for investigation, be sure not to open the device without
permission.

LAN LED is off


 Please check whether the ISCOM HT803G-W is connected to Ethernet cable properly.
 Please check whether the downlink user network adaptor (NIC) is normal.

TEL LED is off


 Please check whether the ISCOM HT803G-W is connected to voice cable properly.
 Please check whether the telephone is in abnormal status.

The wireless signals cannot be searched or the wireless signals are weak
 Please check whether the wireless NIC of the PC can work properly.
 Please check whether SSID of the ISCOM HT803G-W is disabled.
 If the wireless NIC is far away from the ISCOM HT803G-W, re-scan by closing the
device.
 Please check whether there are cordless telephones, microwave ovens or other wireless
interference sources.
 Please check whether the WLAN function of the ISCOM HT803G-W is enabled. If you
cannot confirm it, please re-scan after restoring the default settings.
 Please try to be far away from cordless telephones, microwave ovens to eliminate the
frequency interference. Enclosed space, metal obstacle or concrete wall can also
significantly reduce the coverage of wireless.

Discover the wireless signals but fail to establish connection


 Please check whether the wireless NIC driver on the PC is properly installed and check
whether the wireless NIC can be normally used in other wireless environments. If the
wireless NIC was configured and used in other wireless environments, please check the
originally configured profile parameters. Please try to connect the ISCOM HT803G-W
after eliminating the original configurations. For details about installing, configuring,
and using the wireless NIC, please consult the manufacturer or the vendor of the wireless
NIC.
 Please check that the wireless NIC has already searched and chosen correct device to
establish connection.
 Please check whether the parameters of the wireless NIC are consistent with the ISCOM
HT803G-W, such as the SSID name, encryption status, encryption mode, and the key.
The default wireless network name, encryption mode, and the key of the ISCOM
HT803G-W are listed on the label of the device.
 Please check that “MAC/IP filter” doesn’t shield wireless NIC if setting MAC/IP address
filter.

ISCOM HT803G-W cannot access Internet properly


 Please check whether the ISCOM HT803G-W works properly. (Please refer to
descriptions of LEDs in this manual.)
 Please check the cable and ensure it is connected to the ISCOM HT803G-W reliability.
 If the ISCOM HT803G-W works properly, the PC or the Internet may be abnormal. If
the ISCOM HT803G-W works improperly, please troubleshoot the problems based on
specified LED status, or you can contact the local Carrier for help.

The password cannot be verified


Both device synchronization and connection are normal, but sometimes the password cannot
be verified, then you need troubleshoot according to the following methods:
 Please note the account and password are case sensitive. In addition, please note whether
the account contains the domain name.
 The virtual dialer software may have a problem or it may conflict with some software in
the Operation System (OS). We recommend reinstalling the dialer software or replacing
software.
 The NIC driver has a problem.

 The account falls into arrears. Please pay in time.

The successfully authenticated user name and the password cannot be successfully
authenticated now
 The account expires or falls into arrears.
 The location is changed. Some Carries bind the account to the line. The original account
and password cannot be successfully authenticated after the line is changed.
 There is already an account accessing to the ISCOM HT803G-W successfully. The
Carrier has taken uniqueness authentication to the user account.
 The account is offline abnormally. The account cannot be deregistered on the broadband
access server (BAS) immediately. The broadband access server/accounting system
believes the account is online. We recommend dialing the number after a while. If not
successful, please contact the local Carrier for help.
