Kindergarten students at River City Charter 1

School took a pre-assessment and a post-assessment 2 1 5

The words were counted correct if they read the 5 0 5

consonant blends correctly, not the entire word. Since 6 5 9

the goal of the assessment was to see if they knew 7 1 6

consonant blends, not how to read the entire word.

Eighteen students took the pre-assessment and 9 3 7

post-assessment and every student grew in their 10 2 6

knowledge of consonant blends after a week of learning 11 4 8

and increased their pre-assessment scores. Many 12 0 5
students increased their scores by at least 60%. The 13 0 6
students will be continuously tested on their knowledge 6 10
