The concept of irregular plural nouns will be introduced with familiar example (foot/feet).

Irregular Plural Noun A noun that has different spelling when plural.

Strategy for teaching new vocabulary


Word Wall: At the beginning of the lesson introduce the word and definition and match them on the
word wall.

follows.

Pair Them Up – This game is a memory matching game Small Group Game 10
using irregular plural nouns. Shuffle the cards and lay minutes
them face down in a 5x5 grid. Each player turns over two
cards at a time. If it is a match (or if the word doesn’t
have a match such as fish, sheep and deer) the player
keeps the cards and goes again.

On the board write the words Wife, Leaf, Life, Wolf, Individual Work 10
Knife, Man, Woman, Mouse, Goose, Tooth, Child, Foot & minutes
Person. Students will copy these words in their
notebooks one under the other and next to each word
they will write the Irregular Plural Noun that
corresponds to the word.

Closure : specific activity to review content


On their exit ticket students will write one irregular plural noun that they did not know before today.
