Living on campus offers a unique

Deakin experience. Accommodation is
available at the Melbourne Burwood,
Geelong Waurn Ponds, Geelong Waterfront
and Warrnambool campuses. Residences
provide an affordable and secure living
and learning community ideal for personal
growth and academic success.
Each residential community offers modern,
single-room housing in a landscaped
setting. All rooms are furnished, carpeted,
heated and equipped with a bed, desk,
Wi-Fi and data point linked to the
University network.
All Deakin residents have access to a range
of support services, including support
staff, the management and administration
team and 24-hour Deakin security staff.
The residences team provides a program
of social, personal, academic and sporting
activities, ensuring a smooth transition
to university life and a rewarding and
enjoyable experience. Residences at all
campuses are self-catered, with food

Melbourne Burwood Campus
The Melbourne Burwood Campus has
campus-based accommodation available
for more than 1000 students all year round.
The multi-storey apartment complexes
include self-contained one- and two-
bedroom studio apartments, as well as
private bedrooms within four, five or
six-bedroom apartments, with shared
bathrooms, kitchens and lounge areas.
Our units offer private bedrooms within
10 bedroom units, with shared bathrooms,
kitchens and lounge areas. Units and

Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus
The Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus has

multicultural, however preferences for

Geelong Waterfront Campus
A new 410-bed accommodation facility
will open in 2018 adjacent to the Geelong
Waterfront Campus. Residents have

Guaranteed entry pathways provide
more certainty about TAFE pathways and
enable you to progress from selected TAFE
courses to Deakin degrees. Deakin offers
guaranteed entry pathways from a number
of selected TAFE partners in a growing
range of disciplines. If you are taking a
guaranteed entry pathway, so long as your
study performance meets the required
standard, you will be guaranteed a place
at Deakin following successful completion
of your TAFE course, you may also benefit
from up to 18 months’ credit towards your
Deakin degree.
Pathways through other institutions
If you are currently studying at another
university and wish to transfer to Deakin to
finish your degree, you can apply for Credit
Transfer and Recognition. All university and
private education provider qualifications
are considered for entry and credit transfer,
even if the qualification is in an area
unrelated to what you want to study.
Transfer between Deakin degrees
and campuses
One of the great things about Deakin is that
we have four campuses within the State of
Victoria. Many of our courses are offered at
more than one campus and the same high-
quality degree is delivered no matter which
campus you study at. Transferring from
one Deakin course to another is another

Deakin College is a direct pathway to
Deakin University. It provides an excellent

to begin a Deakin University degree.
Deakin College offers diplomas in the areas
of commerce, computing, engineering,

Diplomas at Deakin College are equivalent
to the first year of a Deakin University

Your offer
International applications for
undergraduate courses can take
approximately three weeks to process.
Students who meet the entry requirements
for their course will be given an offer by the
University. The Letter of Offer is delivered
via email and provides information about
your degree, fees, important dates,
Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) and
much more. It is important for students to
read this document very carefully. If you

Tuition costs
Tuition costs for studying at Deakin vary
depending on the course you select to
study. For example, courses in the sciences
tend to have higher tuition costs than
courses in the humanities. Please refer
to the discipline pages in this Guide to
find the 2018 annual course fee for your
course. The annual course fee indicates
the cost for two trimesters of study unless
otherwise indicated.
The fee for one trimester as listed on
your Offer Letter must be paid before a
Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) can be
issued. You will need a COE to apply for a
student visa.
Overseas Student Health Cover
In addition to tuition fees, all on-campus
international students are required to
pay Overseas Student Health Cover
(OSHC). OSHC service providers offer
reduced rates for OSHC paid at the offer
acceptance stage for health coverage
for the length of your visa. The amount
payable will be included in your Offer
Letter.

etc.) and course-related expenses such
as computer equipment, books, field

EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGIST
After completing Deakin’s Bachelor of Exercise
and Sport Science, you can enrol in Deakin’s
18-month Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology
(MCEP) and, upon graduation, you will be an

How do I know what fees I need
to pay?
All deposit fees you are required to pay
(including the tuition fee) will be listed in
your Offer Letter. You will need to pay the
tuition fee and Overseas Student Health
Cover (OSHC) if studying on-campus.
If there is a difference between your initial
course payment and the actual fee liability
generated by your enrolment, you will
need to pay any outstanding amount; over
payments will be credited to your next
trimester’s fees.
If I don’t meet the admission
requirements for Deakin University,
what are my options?
If you do not meet the academic admission
requirements for Deakin, you should
consider completing a course at one of our
pathway institution providers, which may
allow you direct admission into the second
year of certain Deakin programs. Further
information about these pathway options
can be found on page 17 of this Guide.
If you do not meet the English language
admission requirements for Deakin, you
should consider an English language course
at the Deakin University English Language
Institute (DUELI). Students can meet the
English language requirements of Deakin
undergraduate and postgraduate courses
by successfully completing a program at
DUELI. See page 21 of this Guide for further
information.
If you decide to take an IELTS (Academic)
or TOEFL test, you will need to book early
as places fill quickly. If you sit for a TOEFL
test, you should select Deakin University’s

Yes, Australian laws restrict the use of
funding obtained from various foreign
persons and entities. Information about

What is a Confirmation of
Enrolment (COE)?
A document that confirms the eligibility
of a student to enrol as an international

What do I have to do prior to
