continue to use it. There are many advantages to a traditional written exam. This exam check
students’ ability very well. Therefore, not only many countries but also many educational institutes
still use it.

Firstly, the written exam is acceptable, especially for internal review. Most education institutes prefer
to take this exam to see students’ real skills and knowledge. For example, most of Germany’s
institutes use written exams because they said that we give only blank papers to students, so
students need to write, think and create something new and there is no way to copy. That’s why the
traditional exam is still valid in many countries.

On the other hand, it is challenging to check many written exams. It takes more time for both
examiners and takers. Moreover, there is a high chance for influencing examiners opinions, behaviors
and abilities. Also, it is a subjective test. That is the reason, many countries and education
organizations accept only computer-based scores to avoid disadvantages.

In conclusion, there are weakness and strengths in a traditional written exam. Main drawbacks are
time-consuming, and evaluation process might be subjective, the main advantage is checking
students real level of knowledge. So, it is beneficial for teachers.
