The role
We are seeking an IT professional to join the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB). Ideal
candidates will have experience in leading a small technical team including service desk
staff, database administrators and system administrators. They will be accountable to
allocate and manage resources as well as liaising with our projects team to implement
new initiatives.
These roles may be offered on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis initially in the following
sites: Canberra and Sydney CBD.
Note you must be an Australian citizen to work for the ATO / TPB and agree to pre-
engagement integrity checks. Some roles in the TPB may also require a security
clearance. The TPB in conjunction with the ATO may conduct further integrity checks
during the course of your employment.

Our work
The Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) is a national body responsible for the registration and
regulation of tax agents, BAS agents and tax (financial) advisers (collectively referred to
as 'tax practitioners'). The TPB is also responsible for ensuring compliance with the Tax
Agent Services Act 2009 (TASA), including the Code of Professional Conduct (Code).

Our people
The TPB consists of a Board and Chair appointed by the Minister for Revenue and
Financial Services and staff made available by the Commissioner of Taxation. TPB staff
are employed by the ATO, and made available to the TPB to undertake required
outcomes. TPB staff are therefore covered by the ATO enterprise agreement.

In addition to an EL1 salary of $103,071 to $112,369 and generous 15.4%

The business area


The Business Systems and Services team within the Tax Practitioners Board manage,
develop and maintain TPB’s desktop infrastructure, business systems and website. We
are responsible for maintaining the TPB’s iMIS register of 70,000 tax professionals
accessed by the public through the GovCMS website as well as accessed by internal
staff located in six separate offices. The TPB is currently migrating to a Microsoft Azure
cloud environment for its office and corporate functions.

 well developed liaison and communication skills to exchange information with internal and
external clients and stakeholders
 experience discussing complex and sensitive technical and administrative issues
 experience in managing and coordinating technical IT resources
 the ability to interpret complex operating policies to provide advice on the appropriate
course of action to meet changing client needs, statutory requirements and technological
demands.
