BLM - Addition

Session plan for Interaction -1 & Interaction - 2

● Objectives:

i) Students will be able to apply column method of addition in practical life.

ii) Students will independently able to add number up to 5 digit. (Without regrouping)

● Teacher's aid:

i) Assignment 1A & 1B (Hard copy)

ii) TAB (With Addition BLM)

● Grade level: 3rd

● Teaching methodology:

i) Programmed Instruction Method

ii) Discussion

● Time frame break – up:

i) Total time - 145 minutes.

ii) TAB sync time – 5 minutes

iii) Buffer time – 10 minutes

iv) Assignment distribution and collection time – 5 minutes

v) Writing of answers on board – 10 minutes.

vi) Instruction time – 105 minutes

● Teaching process:

i) Students will complete assignment 1A (Instructions for same is already given to students).
[Time – 10 minutes]

ii) Facilitator will discuss answer and will write it on board. Self-checking of assignment 1A will be
done by students. [Time – 5 minutes]

iii) Students will then solve assignment 1B. Instructions for same will be given by facilitator.
[ Time – 15 minutes]

iv) Facilitator will discuss answer and will write it on board. Self-checking of assignment 1B will be
done by students. [Time – 10 minutes]

v) Students will then solve assignment 1C in their Math book. Instructions for same will be given by
facilitator. [ Time – 20 minutes]

vi) Facilitator will discuss answers and self-checking of assignment 1C will be done by students.
[Time – 10 minutes]

vii) Facilitator will write 2 – 3 addition sums on board (4 – digit without regrouping) and facilitator will
randomly ask a student to solve it on board and other students will solve it in their rough book.
[Time – 5 minutes]

viii) Facilitator will write 2 – 3 addition sums on board (5 – digit without regrouping) and facilitator will
randomly ask a student to solve it on board and other students will solve it in their rough book.
[Time – 10 minutes]

ix) Facilitator will allow students to observe solution and realize that column method of addition
(without regrouping) remains same irrespective of increasing place value digits. [Time – 5 minutes]

x) Students will go through presentation – 1 (from interaction 2 of addition BLM) and facilitator will
discuss the same and recap of the steps involved in addition of 4 and 5 digit numbers (without
regrouping) will be done. [Time – 15 minutes]
