Abstract

Geopolitics of Afghanistan requires an indirect access to the open waters via other countries. Iran
and Pakistan, respectively with ports of Chabahar and Gwadar supply the main marine transit
route for Afghanistan. The study, using dependable information, aims at explaining the active
and potential capabilities of the two ports in a comparative approach. Initial studies indicate the
superiority of preferences of Iranian Chabahar port due to the facilities necessary for fulfilling
the requirements of Afghanistan’s Commercial relations with different countries in the world.

Keywords: Afghanistan, economical exchange, chabahar port, gwadar port.
