Comments: My organization has a very basic way of school/parent/student communication.

The automated calling system, regular office calls and transfer calls to classroom, as well as
ParentVUE portal have been used for more than five years now. However, our school is
trying to implement modern and effective ways of communicating with parents and students
as well as making it easier for parents and students to communicate with teachers and
administration.

Summary:
Parent, teacher and student communication is an area my organization is currently focusing on.
There are plans on improving the way school, parents and students communicate within each
other. The focus in this area came about because of the many discrepancies that have shown
up with what we currently use for communicating. Automated Calling System is implemented
district wide; however, every school within the district have their own applications for
communication.

There has been parent complains about not being able to communicate in a quick and efficient
way with teachers as well as with administration. Phone calls can’t be transfer during school
hours and sometimes it is of high need to communicate with teachers during the day as well as
with administration. Sometimes administrators aren’t available to reach the phone, teachers
aren’t allowed to answer parent calls during school hours, etc. There are many factors that
sometimes interfere with parent to teacher/ administration communication. Also, teachers leave
the school site after certain hours and again parents aren’t able to communicate with teachers.
Students might have questions regarding assignments. What will be an effective way to reach
their teacher during after school hours?

In my organization ClassDojo, Remind, Office (Webmail), ParentVUE are some of the

applications that are being used for communication with parents, teaches and students. There
are some teachers that opt for ClassDojo and 24/7 they can be in communication with parents
and students with teachers without the need of a phone call. As well, as Office 365 webmail is
also encourage for parents and of course our all time application ParentVUE. However, there
are other applications that are easier to use, more modern, and more effective than the ones
being implemented right now. The problem here is educating parents on the use of this new
21st Century communicating applications and that are of extreme benefit for an educational
organization. My organization has focus on GAFE ( Google Applications for Educations)
focusing precisely on GMail and Hangouts for communication as well as EDModo and Twitter as
applications that will provide 24/7 communication with parents. As well as provide students with
21st skill that should be used in order to support their children in their education. As well as
students using GAFE to communicate with teachers regarding assignments in after school
hours. The use of Hangout a virtual video call and use of Gmail.
