EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

Course Reflection

The purpose of this educational philosophy course is to gain a deeper

perspective on what you, as an educator, are all about. What makes you, you, in the
educational world is something that people sometimes don't take the necessary time to
think about. There is so much that goes into a philosophy in education and a lot of it
depends on a person's personality. Every educator teaches differently and as long as
students are engaged academically there is no wrong way to teach. What I have
learned about myself is that my teaching philosophy focuses on building rapport.
My educational philosophy is one that is very simple, but if done correctly is a
powerful one. The learner’s role is to come to learn. The goal is to help the students
create a passion for learning. It is the goal of the teachers to be able to help these
students become lifelong learners so they can enjoy it the rest of their life. We, as
people, never stop learning in life so it is important that we understand and enjoy the
learning process, because that is how reaching our full potential is achieved.
The most powerful method is one that starts with building rapport with students.
When teachers take the time to build relationships with students so they truly know that
you care most methods of teaching will work. The method that is preferred is one that
uses differentiated instruction. Students like to have things changed up throughout a
class period so it helps them stay more engaged. A student who is engaged and rapport
is built between the student and teacher is the most effective method.
The primary purpose of this course was to help educators get a deeper
understanding of what they educational philosophy is. We, as teachers, need to prepare
them to be successful at their job so they can be able to reach their full potential. Also it
is important that students become lifelong learners. Students need to understand that
they never stop learning so the purpose of education is to help them learn how to learn.
