LICENCE

for
AS/NZS 3760:2010/Amdt 2:2012 In-service safety inspection and testing of electrical equipment

Licence Agreement

This is an agreement between the end user of the Product ("Licensee") and SAI Global Limited, Level 37, 680 George Street, Sydney NSW
2000 AUSTRALIA, ABN 67 050 611 642.

1. Definitions and Interpretations

Australian Standards means Australian Standards and includes Joint ISO/Australian Standards, Joint NZ/Australian Standards, current Draft
Australian Standards, and amendments to Australian Standards.

Concurrent Users means the maximum number of people able to access the Product at any one time, and is limited to the number of Licences
purchased.

ISO Standards means Standards published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), for which SAI Global is an authorised
distributor.

IEC Standards means Standards published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), for which SAI Global is an authorised
distributor.

Internal use means use of the Product within the Licensee’s organization.

Licence means the right to access and use the Product.

Licensee means the purchaser and user of the Product.

Product means Australian Standards, ISO Standards and IEC Standards ordered and purchased through the infostore, and downloaded as
electronic PDF files.

2. Product Availability

2.1. The Product is available via the World Wide Web through the use of a web browser. Documents are provided as PDF files, viewable through
the use of the latest version of Adobe Reader®.

3. Licence Agreement

3.1. By using the Product the Licensee agrees to be bound by the Licence Agreement for the Product.

3.2. The Licensee is granted a non-exclusive and non-assignable Licence to use the Product.

3.3. Licensees are permitted to use the Product the following extent:

3.3.a. PDF (Personal Use) Format - Purchasers of personal user Licences for the PDF format of the publication may locally install and use the
publication on the number of individual computers corresponding to the Quantity specified in the SAI Global Infostore order. Licensees are

The 2010 edition of AS/NZS 3760 is amended as follows; the amendments should be inserted in the appropriate
place.
SUMMARY: This amendment applies to the Foreword, Clauses 2.3.3.2 and 2.3.3.4, and Appendices E and F.
Published on 21 December 2012.
Approved for publication in New Zealand by the Minister of Energy and Resources on 29 November 2012 and by the
Standards Council of New Zealand on 30 November 2012. Approved for publication in Australia on behalf of the

2.3.3.2 Replace the NOTE with the following:

NOTE – For equipment that contains single phase motors, or if an insulation test fails due to
the presence of internal components such as LEDs, the leakage current test is the preferred
option.

2.3.3.4 Replace the first paragraph with the following:

RCDs shall be tested in accordance with Appendix H. The maximum tripping time shall not
exceed the values in Table 3.

RCDs which are permanently wired to terminals in equipment shall be tested using the RCD test
button only, observing the operating time which should be ‘without undue delay’. In case of doubt,
use an external timing circuit, capable of detecting the test current start and finish, to measure
disconnect time which shall be not more than 150 ms for a 30 mA RCD and 40 ms for a 10 mA
RCD. (The test button current is assumed to be 2 times the rated residual current.)

E3.3 Replace ‘ 2.3.3.2 (b)’ with ‘E2.2 (b)’

Replace the NOTE with the following:

NOTE –
(1) Figure E5 shows the insulation resistance testing of an EPOD.
(2) For EPODs that feature an LED indicator connected between the active conductor and
earth, if the EPOD fails the insulation resistance test the integrity of the insulation should
be confirmed by the leakage current test.
