Teacher will project an image of a pan scale on the board. Teacher will say,” Turn to
your partner and tell them what you think this is used for (10 seconds of talk time)
Teacher explains that a pan scale is to weight objects. When one side goes down, it is
heavier. The higher side is lighter. When they are the same height, they are equal or
balanced.

juice and write in the worksheet an apple is heavier than juice or juice is lighter than apple. A

students will be able to know what is heavier and what in lighter and circle the heavier item for
example if the apple heavier than book they will circle apple. A student can simply identify which
is heavier / lighter than apple.
Materials for this centre: scale, an apple, one scissor, one car, small book, wood, water potter, pencil,
Stones.
Center3:
Students will answer the exercises about balancing in math book page 154,155
Center4:
teacher will give students cutting paper in different sizes and different shapes to make their own
scale and balance the scale by using different sizes of paper to equal both sides. for example, if they
but 2 circles in one side other side will be 2 circles also.
Exit ticket:teacher will give each student paper with different balancing pictures .students have to
answer, some students will circle the lighter animal and some students have to circle the heavier
animal.
